Here's mine. I took a TON of shortcuts (like drybrushing the shell and leaving all ornamentation just gold with no gems), plus the photos were taken without using my good camera and photography lights, but here's my guy. I'll do proper photos once the army as a whole is done.
Nice work everyone! I don't have my Bastiladon yet ( ) However am I the only one going to use an Ark of Sotek? Am I the only one? Sotek answer me!
So, finally two pics of my Bastiladon, sorry for the quality, phonepics... more to follow! Of course it gets the sunmachine, but I still have to fiure out if I go for more gold or stone glyphs. cheers
Bastiladon #1: (Solar Engine) - [These were taken before I got the guy on the back. He's there now.] Bastiladon #2 (Ark of Sotek)
I'm really digging the Ark paint job, Chicken Lips. I'm curious how you achieved the mottling on the scales especially.
A lot of layering up, my friend. I started dark, then built up using lighter tones and the lighter I got, the less I applied. I would typically pick one point from which to radiate the pattern out from and as I ventured out, cover less and less. As a final application, I when back to the original base color and applied the "stripes" down each side. I would typically take an old stiff brush, wipe off most of the pigment and then "stipple" the color on using the very end of the bursh in a tap-tap motion. The more you do that, the heavier the color saturation.
