Hello everyone It's been awfully quiet here on the 8th edition section of the forum since the infestation (I mean release) of AoS. Seems like all the focus is slowly bleeding towards the newest and shiniest release, leaving us Warhammer Proper players in the dark. I've come across a YouTube channel that will continue to produce 8th edition battle reports so I thought I would share it here. Better still, the channel is run by Mittierim who plays Lizardmen as one of his armies!!! So for those interested in continued 8th edition content, you can check out his channel here... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMKjDhBn3Pa-MoYxFfqN1lg Enjoy!
Theres also a Facebook Group called "THIS is Warhammer" (as typed). Not specifically Lizardmen, but it is specifically 8th Edition Warhammer.
To be honest... no. I've already read over the rules and a bunch of the warscrolls and I can clearly see that there is nothing in the game that interests me. Everything the game has to offer is a poorer more filtered down version of what is present in 8th. Other than being new (and supported*) AoS has nothing going for it in my estimation. 8th edition is a more complex game and that is what interests me. AoS is simplistic and while not completely devoid of skill, it is much less skill reliant than 8th. So why trade up an older better game for an inferior new game? That counter argument I always hear in response to my stance is: "how can you make a judgement about it without actually trying it?". I personally don't subscribe to this line of thinking. There are many things in life that we make judgements about without trying them. I don't play every video game, or play every sport, or watch every movie, or travel to every destination, etc. I rely on a bit of research, review or instinct to determine if something is worth exploring further. To exaggerate my point, I've never walked down the street and seen a dog turd on the ground and thought to myself "I've never tried to eat this... maybe I should to see if I like it!". Of course all this is only my opinion. I works for me. I would not dissuade others from trying AoS or even playing it if they like it. The needs and desires of each player is going to be different. For some people AoS will be a better fit, but I am certain that I do not fall into that category. *a quick point about being supported... I think a lot of AoS Lizardmen players are going to be severely disappointed when they find out that Lizardmen will not be receiving further support (or so the rumours say... but these are rumours from Harry on Warseer and he was right about everything else AoS related).
Our group will also stick with 8th. When i asked one of my friends to play a test game of AoS he totally refused! (eventhough AoS would be more suitable for his tactical "finesse" )
Thx for the link! I like watching battle reports . As for me I played WFB as a kid (12yo). Now started again at 28. I was in GW store just last week and the salesman was going on and on that I should try AoS. Quite annoying actually. It is just not my thing I repeated. Almost asked him to leave. Hopefully more 8th players will do the same so maybe GW realises something is a miss. I don't mind the extra game of AoS, but I don't like the replacement for 8th. As you said I also like the difficulty of the game.Makes it much more enjoyable, even if I still need to learn about it a lot. To bad I can't seem to find any players in my region though.
Wait, Harry said that Lizardmen were not going to be supported any longer? That's news to me. Is this true!?
That was the rumour floating around. Lizardmen would be playable, but would no longer be getting new models (or rules outside of those introduced at launch). Whether or not this proves to be true is still up in the air. Lizardmen have thus far had a greater role in the fluff than many of the other legacy armies; so who knows.
I wouldn't say that he is never wrong, but he does have a very good track record in my opinion. I just don't see them releasing a bunch of new factions and keeping 14-15 legacy armies around as well. The question is whether or not Lizardmen (or Seraphon ) will be one of the armies integrated fully in the future vision of the game.
yey miniwargaming! I love their 8th edition batreps!! I also keep playing the good old 8th edition because I really really don't like Age of Sigmar. I also found this video about GW when they released AoS ^^ :
