Here's the Poll you've all been waiting for!

POLL WILL BE CREATED AND OPEN THIS THURSDAY!

    Before you vote, please REMEMBER:
    - Don't take painting into consideration, it's not important.
    - Don't take races or bits from other companies into consideration, again, it's a sculpting + converting competition, doesn't matter if it's GW, non-GW, Lizardmen, or non lizardmen.
    - Don't vote for yourself, we can check to see who voted and for which pieces, abuse this rule and you will be disqualified.
    - You have two votes each, please use them, even if you only like one piece.

As a side note, @TheDoctor - I need you to re-send me those photos, the links you sent to me originally are no longer working. The poll will remain closed until I get those photos from you, BUT if I don't have a response by Thursday I will open the poll without your work (I can't keep it closed indefinitely).

As a quick final, I just wanted to say well done everyone!
I've been really impressed by the reaction towards the contest and the number of people taking part, it's a real joy to see and I didn't expect to see more than 6 maximum. Regardless of whether you're quietly confident or feeling down, I want you ALL to be proud (I'm certainly proud of each and every one of you) for having a go at this contest and to KEEP SCULPTING for the future, you never know what you will achieve even one year on from now... :)

    And here are the nominees....

These are all brilliant! Not going to be easy to choose. Going to be staring at these all for a while! Not just to judge, but because they are so fantastic, I have to admire the work put in!

Oh yeah, it's been happening more and more often with some really impressive works, I'm still impressed by the level of participants in this contest, if all goes well and the feedback afterwards (thread/update to the original thread to come after voting closes), I will be looking at running a second contest 6 months or 12 months down the line.

But that is getting a little bit ahead of myself.

Wow, what a surprising turn out! There's more entries than the recent painting competitions. I really wish I had time sculpt something for this, I had a really good idea too..

Your entry is a really nice one
You have really tempted me to start a daemons/chaos army just to have some similar to those :)

Neveroddoreven's figures are beyond amazing, but I feel as though they're not really Lizardmen models.

Therefore Nahualpiltzintli gets my vote, simply for the sheer hilarity of the concept.

"Was getting into a challenge part of your plan?"
    "Of course!"
    "You're a big toad."
    "For you."

"Only one guy gets to stay on my Carnosaur."

Well like I said in the rules, that shouldn't be part of your decision, different people excel at different styles/creatures/things, I find sculpting Lizards relatively easy compared to other creatures (anything human/elf/humanoid and ESPECIALLY female) to be harder.

That's why I said race is non specific.

    I agree
I would like to think people voted my conversion because they liked it the most, not just because it was a lizardmen one :)

Exactly! I think a good concept or idea can add an insane amount of character to a sculpt.
For me, I actually like the little spirit heads on your piece, they add a little extra to the whole thing, so although one could argue the Slann should be the focus, there's still plenty to see throughout your work.

Ditto the spirit heads. They take a well-sculpted, but otherwise basic, branch and bring it to the next level of creative, artistic and interesting.
@Nahualpiltzintli Can you tell us more about the thinking/inspiration of the hood/cloak/mask part of the sculpt?

@Sikeron , can you tell us more about your model, too? I'm not sure what I'm looking at...I see some dark green parts that look like sculpted Green Stuff, but I don't know what the red and light green parts are - am I looking at a scratch build? Or GS added to an existing model?

    @ Lawot

    Sure....

I am rather fond of the old art of the army lists back in mid 80s/ 90s during the 3rd edition of WHFB. I am talking about the time when slann actually formed the warrior ranks. They seemed to be some sort of bipedal frogs dressed in a mixture of Inca and Maya armour/ garment.. Like the black and white drawing i have attached to my entry which came from an old army list...Quite weird and cartoony but I like them. There are a few armies online like http://goblinlee.blogspot.de/2013/05/the-whole-slann-army.html

I sculpted the miniature completely from scratch using a simple wire dolly. The red and light green material is FIMO and the darker green material is green stuff. It's about 32mm to the head. The grey weapon and the shield is the typical plastic lizardmen equipment.

Since I had taken these pictures I have made a mold and casted this mini in resin around 10 times...

I intend to sculpt two more different models to do a whole unit...

I am on the other hand puzzled as i actually thought people liked my Anvil of Doom Pig Charriot.. :) Entire cart is made from scratch :p
