I'm not talking 8th age here, obviously. What I mean is, if someone *ahem* made an Oxyotl conversion, would you let them do it with those strange lizard/Aos crossover rules? I need opinions here, people. Also, if anyone knows if theres an Old One of snipers or of accuracy, and also happens to know the markings for their sacred spawnings, that would be muchly appreciated
Supposed to be fully supported, and still in the app, so still a legal unit. And because they have Seraphon as a key word, should still count as a complete Seraphon army. So you can use knights and guards as battleline.
Nice. What about converted models? Say I made a Hydra with a skink riding it and made up a set of rules for it, and added Seraphon as a keyword, would that count as Seraphon for you?
For me? Absolutely. I may help you adjust the points cost depending on how it works. For others? Only way to know is to ask. They may let you proxy it as a troglodon instead.
I pretty much have the points sorted - I was going to attach a Skink Priest to the Hydra, and basically add the points together for each one. I was going to field it exactly the same as if they were two separate models, with the slight change of +3" for the range of Starbolt, to represent the priest being higher up. However, my made-up Coatl rules desperately need some outside help. I'll stick them on here in a day or so, if you don't mind. Well, you never know. I wanted to get a couple of opinions, because my gaming group has a few of those guys, and I needed a bit of outside information on if it was ok or not. Edit - actually @n810, would you mind waiting a day or two and reviewing my Coatl rules as well? It needs a lot of tweaking as well.
Well, regarding units as Oxyotl or the skink chief, it is explicitly stated in the FAQ that you can use them, and now they have also a point value in the general's handbook, so no one should be able to say "no"
They do? *flicks through Generals Handbook* I can't find them. What are the points for them? Oxyotl in particular.
I don't remember exactly where, they are not listed under "Seraphon", but under "lizardmen". IIRC the chief is 60 pts.
Ok. The skink chief could be extremely useful for my soon-to-be-Chameleon skinks (converted from skinks, of course) and 60pts isn't bad at all for what he does. But what about Oxyotl? I need the points!
You could do a rough comparison between AoS chief and 8th edition and then use that ratio to convert Oxyotl's points from 8th to AoS.
Unless explicitly discounted by GW (e.g., they bring out a new edition - even then those units can be used for any game using the relevant edition) then i'd say it's fine to use what warscroll you want in your Seraphon army, as long as it has the Seraphon keyword. If it's a unique conversion then it's best to view it as strictly on a per- opponent (for general 1 v. 1) or gaming group (for tournaments) basis. i.e. ask before planning your army list.
Just as an FYI- Oxyotl is 100 points in the GH, Tehenhuain is 80 and skink chief is 60. The old formations are saurus Host (140) and Skink patrol (140). Love the fact that GW is supporting squatted stuff with points still, gives them a sense of legitimacy.
It does make them seem slightly less of a profit machine and more of a friendly company who puts customers first and profits second... but for this to be true I would need a lot more evidence.
I think they realized just how much money ismoney is in digital downloads and books. So support whatever, we can put out new books and sell a ton of those as digital downloads.
But nothing beats sitting with the tv on beer in hand flicking through a army book, just not the same on a ipad.
Yeah... the iPad can take the occasional spillage without gluing pages together.... it takes all the fun out of being drunk....
