I don´t know about that, I don´t see it as a material lizardmen would use to make a standard, but thanks for the idea anyways, maybe I do it just to try! :D

The new colour scheme looks fantastic! Tetto's new base is really cool. There was an amazing skavenpelt banner somewhere on here!
Edit Found it:Slann-mage with skavenpelt banner

Bones and pelts and shed snake skins. It will either make a banner or an owls nest.

    Thanks!
That seems like a good idea! I have however already painted the four (will post pics soon), but nothing stops me from building more! :D

    Update!

So I was lucky enough to be able to get my hands on this little fella... :p

    IMG_20160831_203324.jpg

As I said in the GW news thread I had heard it was one of the best varnishes out there, although I actually don´t know if it does something to actually protect the paintjob (if someone knows please tell me ). Anyways when I got home I set up to try it out.

    IMG_20160831_174841.jpg

The first thing I wanted to check is if it actually removed gloss, which it did. The picture above shows how the skinks movement tray looked after the PVA had dried and after the varnish the only difference remaining was that the PVA affected areas had a less sharp texture, so good enough :D.

    IMG_20160831_203248.jpg

What I also wanted to test was how did it affect colour and clump foliage. Above a comparison shot of the saurus movement tray (unsprayed) and the skinks MT (sprayed). The skink MT appeared to be slightly darker, but that might well be that I applied a heavier wash. And even if it wasn´t the difference is not actually noticeable from above the table :). What it did more effect on was the clump foliage, which got slightly whitish after the spray. The texture remained the same and the foliage seemed as flexible as previous to the spray, but nothing very noticeable either. So judging from this small test I´m happy enough and will be spraying all the completed units from now on :writing:.

I also finished the first 4 objective markers:

    IMG_20160831_175100.jpg

Number 1 is bronze, 2 stone, 3 my try at green obsidian and 4 some weird silver colour. Out of these my two favorites are bronze and stone, and as I can´t decide which one I like more I´ve decided to try to convine them, so made four more objective bases .

    IMG_20160831_203540.jpg

I´m planning on painting one bone, like @NIGHTBRINGER suggested, other one stone and bronze, other stone with bronze and silver gems and the last one I´ve just forgotten what did I plan for it :facepalm::banghead:. I´ll tell you guys when I remember, but until then I´m up for more suggestions :joyful::joyful:
I think I´ll have these painted for tomorrow.

And I also painted 3 saurus so far :D

    IMG_20160831_133758.jpg

    Hope you liked this :joyful:

Those objective markers are seriously awesome! I might have to kidnap that idea! You're right the bronze and stone are incredible! I see you have had a productive day! This is all great! Keep it going!

Nice objective markers, I like the green obsidian myself.

It´s actually a carnosaur head that´s been cut off and hung from a standard, but you made me realize that it actually looks like a portal!

That would actually be an amazing conversion for the engine of the gods! You may have just changed my plans for the troglodon head!

In AOS the Engine summons things. This conversion just makes so much sense and copying your awesome idea is just too good to pass up! Hope you don't mind, but kidnapping princesses and ideas is kinda my thing! :p

Lacquer/varnish does indeed protect the paint, it lays on top of the paint but once it starts to cure (dry) it bites into the top surface of the paint binding it to the paint, stopping the paint getting damaged.

You should apply 2 thin coats to stop the finish going cloudy, for ultimate protection lacquer your models with a gloss finish followed by a matt (anti shine) coat.

The more you matt down a finish be it a lacquer, paint the softer it is when dry hence gloss giving the best protection.

For general gaming 2 coats of matt will keep your models looking good for years.

Nice markers by the way very impressive work for such a young talent.

Thanks! And thanks so much! :D:D

Sorry guys I´ve been so quiet lately I just started school a week ago and already have about 4 hours homework/day, so that means that I only get about 1-2hour/day to paint, which has considerably slowed the painting.
I´m currently painting the big standard, the new markers are finished but as I want to get as much time onto painting I´ll have to slow down with the posting, though a big update once the saurus are finished is promise ;).
    Sorry for the wait
