After using W&N I find others sub par, I tend to use 3,1,0 the most and like you rarely use a 000 but it is handy to have one for correcting small mistakes.

On another topic I love how you paint eyes, mine look flat and one dimensional, walk through your process for me?

    Please :)

Your skink priest is amazing, from the feathers to his scales! I especially love the stonework!

Depends on the model really, for simple R&F Skinks I just paint the eye in Averland Sunsent, then highlight most of it with Flash Gitz Yellow and draw a small line with black, the key here is to make the line wider on the upper part of the eye and narrower at the bottom, is more like a very tall, inverted triangle.

For the Priest I went a bit further, same basecoat with Averland Sunset, then a shade with Fuegan Orange, then back to Averland and highlight with Flash Gitz Yellow, same method for the pupil, and finally I apply a small dot of pure whitebetween the black pupil and the yellow of the eye, usually in the top "inside" corner, you can see that really well in the Priest pictures.

Hello! Really loving these seraphon you're painting. What colours did you use for the skin and scale of your skink priest?

    Thanks mate for the inspiration!

The process for the skin goes like this:

    Basecoat: Baharroth Blue
First Shade: Templeguard Blue mixed 1:3 with Lahmian Medium (1 part paint, 3 parts Medium)
Second shade: Coelia Greenshade mixed 1:3 with Lahmian medium.
    First Highlight: Baharroth Blue
Final Highlight: Ulthuan Grey in a Glaze (I dilute the paint more than usual)

For the scales the process is much easier, I mix Kantor Blue 1:2 - 1:3 with Lahmian medium and just apply it over the scales, thats it.

Well it's been a while, I've been painting a lot but couldn't take any pictures as we are reforming part of the house. Finally here are some updates, two Kroxigors and there is a Horde of "Fire Elementals" to come when I get to take a decent picture of them.

They look great, what have you used to create the stone effect on the weapons?, I really think it's an effective look the gold really helps it stand out. ;)

    Really simple,

    - Basecoat of dawnstone
    - Wash with Agrax Earthshade
    - Drybrush with Administratum Grey
    - Edge Highlight with Administratum Grey
    - Edge Highlight wth Ulthuan Grey
    - Glaze the shadows and recesses with diluted Biel-tan Green
    - If the shadows are a bit shallow, add a fine line of Agrax again

At some point during painting, I really wanted to do anything besides painting one more damn scale. I love detailed miniatures as much as anyone but this is a case of too much, also some of the scales are so tiny that is almost imposible to highlight.

Still lovely minis, one more still to go, still about 50% done and then on to three old ones (not the really old ones though...)

Wow they are good! Amazing job. You really master the highlighting. I love their scales, I think you really managed to get them to look hard and sharp almost like stones. I hope I will master that same technique one day :)

Your painting skill is astonishing !
May I please ask how did you make the red part of the head? I cannot believe my eyes. The shading is perfect !

    Thanks!

I use Flat Red (Vallejo GC) as a base (mephiston Red would work great too).

Then shade over it with Agrax Earthsade letting it pool more near the Base.

First Highlight is Flat Red again , then wild rider red and finally Fire Dragon Bright.

I then apply a Glaze of Bloodletting all over it.

Wanted to share something a bit different. Got hold of some old Skink Cold One Riders and decided to convert one and try to make it look a bit more modern.

He will be my new Herald and Raptor, he is next on the paint schedule.

    Hope you like him!
