    Hello all,

I was hoping for some direction on some list building, and/or battle reports. I haven't played since Fantasy, and have 4k+ worth of models that have been collecting dust the last year or so. Since my locals are starting to pick up AOS, I am going to take my army out of hiding for some fun. Also, I had just started to play when Fantasy kicked the bucket. So I was pretty new to Fantasy as well.

My store is starting up an escalation league with games starting at 1000pts, pushing up to 2500. However, as I am reading through the warscrolls and I am not quite seeing how I can build a good list at such a low point cost. It seems I want to take large units, which would hurt me ,(point wise), if I wanted to take any stompies, or solos.

Any suggestions, or direction on what works best in low point games? Looking for some basic Seraphon strategies.

    Thanks

    Hello, welcome aboard !

Let me link you a 1000points list suggested by @InfamousBeany that seems to be one of our strongest at this league :

"As resident purveyor of fine cheddar, I present to you a tasty little 1000 point list:

    Scar-Vet on Cold One- 100

    Empire Jade Battlemage- 100

    Saurus Warriorsx10 - 100

    Saurus Warriorsx10- 100

    Bastiladon- 300

    Bastiladon- 300

    This will give you:
    • 4D6 Rend -1 attacks that do 2 Damage each at 20" (and woe betide any demon player you run into).
    • 2 of the hardest to kill monsters in the game.
    • A wizard that can then heal those hard to kill monsters back up (and then make them even tougher for a turn).
    • A solid block of infantry that can move 10" a turn to grab objectives, not to mention ignoring rend -1.
    • A fairly fast General with a decent command ability and great tarpit-removal attacks.
    • A lack of friends.
If you want to keep solely in Seraphon, you could drop the battlemage for a Starpriest, and then maybe replace the warriors for guard, but I really think the Jade wizard is worth its weight in gold in lower points value games. Your opponents will throw a lot of hate at your bastiladons, and if you can undo all their work with one spell cast... it can be pretty brutal."

Double basti is really strong, but afaik you could have none! it would be helpful if you tell us what models do you have. ;)

lol! That sounds pretty awesome! I will give this list a try, but we have a lot of new players. I'd like them to keep playing. I made that mistake with my necrons. woops. :( lol.

Thank you!! I am likely going to try this list on a more veteran player. It sounds fun!

I have more than I could ever need. I own everything, and in most cases double or triple of the Dinos. Basically, 4k plus in points. Hundreds of Saurus Warriors. :)

    Perfect.

At this point the question is more: how much do you want to stomp your opponents?

Because Beany's double basti list is a mean green killing machine, but it will lose you friends... unless your friends are the kind that at 1000 pts field Beastclaw with Frostlord on Stonehorn AND Thundertusk; or Death with Mourningul. In this case doble basti is fine.

If you want something less cheesy, still strong but also with some nice versatility, at 1000 pts I usually suggest this:

Saurus Scar Veteran on Carno - 260 (general)
    Skin Star Priest - 100
    Saurus Knights x 5 - 120
    Saurus Warriors x 10 - 100
    Chama skinks x 5 - 120
    Bastiladon - 300

lol, ya, we have a lot of new players. New to AOS, and new to table top in general. I want to be easy going at first. I am also new to AOS, but not table top. So, it is still a learning situation for me as well.

That list doesn't seem too harsh, but is still solid. I DO love my Bastiladon(s), or I call him Spike(s). ( Land before time thing). I am going to give this list a try. I had a list in mind, but it's very basic just to get the benefits. Pretty much a Priest, many Saurus warriors, and a Bastiladon.

thank you guys!!! I really appreciate the input. The league doesn't start for a couple weeks,, but I will post the updates on how the game went.

    Hey guys,

The players at our store are all relatively new. We only have one player that likes to min/max and take insane things in low point games but nobody really plays against him lol.

She has the following in her collection that we have found so far:

    Slaan mage priest
    Star seer
    star priest
    Carnisaur
2 bastilidons (one on sprue, one build with sun engine)
2 stegadons (in process of being built). One metal one new plastic
    19 temple guard
    46 skinks with javs
    6 New on sprue ripperdactles
    68 saurus warriors hws
    30 saurus warriors spears
16 Saurus warriors New on sprue
    1 sunblood
    1 skarred vet
    2 cav skarred vets
    16 saurus cav

So that is what she has to work with so far.
