Not sure if anyone has bought anything through GW's made to order section/service, but I just have a quick question. Are the models made out of the same material as their most recent release?

For instance:
  • would a model previously only released in metal have a metal made to order equivalent?
  • would a finecast model have a finecast made to order equivalent?
  • most importantly, would a plastic model have a plastic made to order equivalent?

I'm just curious in case they were to ever re-release Tomb Kings via made to order. Would the Sphinx, Tomb Guard and Sepulchral Stalkers be released in plastic or is there a chance that they might cheapen out and use Finecast? (I don't like Finecast :wtf:)

Cheers & thanks

The moulds for plastic are different to finecast and metal, I believe metal and finecast are interchangeable but plastic is a totally different ball game.

So, it would depend on the mould status and if they needed to have them remade.

I'd imagine they would be the same material as the originals, but I've no source on that...

That is what I thought. At least that means it is HIGHLY unlikely that a previously plastic model would be released in anything but plastic.

Thanks @Ritual :)

That's what I figured. As long as I can avoid finecast I'm happy.

but I've no source on that...

Has anyone received a "Made To Order" purchase? Any confirmations?

I wonder how popular Made to Order system is.

Thanks @Crowsfoot

Do you know if it was originally finecast model before its cancellation? Or did they transition over from another material?

How long did it take from the time you placed your order to the time you received your model?

I think it was originally finecast and it took around a month to recieve it

@NIGHTBRINGER — I just ordered two Bull Centaurs last Friday. Poke me, remind me to update this thread with info. I chose the deliver to store option. So we'll see. No idea exactly where the store is. That is tomorrow's mission: track down where the store is.

Awesome... thanks! Very much appreciated!

Some cursory research with a map app gadget has revealed a satellite view of the building. I went on a quest of 43 miles (one way distance) recently to obtain some Gryph-Hounds.

This place is clearly closer.

The first map app can't calculate distance. :meh: A different (and irritatingly dain-bramaged) mappety app reveals that I may have a game and hobby store only 14 miles away!
:wideyed:

That's a good thing to find out though, even if it wasn't straight away!
Yes.
I have no FLGS at all.
I am not sure if 14 miles counts as Local ( :cyclops: ) but it is a vast improvement on 43. Friendly, remains to be seen / not yet verified. Game store status:

1 FDGS; 43 miles; Friendly if Distant
1 UNGS; 14 miles; Unknown but Nearer

...mission is delayed; closed on Tuesdays.
