The flame pattern looks good. Depending if you want it to look more like real fire, you could make some parts an even more bright blue.
It has been a while since I last posted here. Lots of other projects happened that took up all my last year but I am back again and this time determined to fill out a full 2000 point forces of my Star Children of Xilonen. I have just finished my next model this weeken, my Saurus Sunblood.
I finally finished my Bastiladon. This beast was given to me for my birthday shortly after the launch of AoS, the box collecting dust in my spare room. Had my first game with it and my goodness it is so good, I can see why people take it now.
Looks really nice! I like the shell... And the crystal of course... Are these bits and pieces of a spire on the base? Good use of extra plastic...
Really beautifully painted. I like the star-scape on the crystal, but I really like the color scheme you chose for the bastiladon itself. Well painted armored-hide, and his underside looks especially scaley.
Yes, I always find that by simply cutting pieces of left over sprue and fashioning them into rocks really adds that little more to the monster's base especially when you have such large bases and without them they feel empty. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments as it really makes me eager to paint more. Finally finished my unit of Saurus Guard. I got a big block of 15 which I plan on turning into three units of 10 whenever I decide to get another box of them. Played them against some ogres and they turned out very well even with their shortcomings.
I cannot believe I have not touched my army for a good year. Picking up where I left off I decided to finish my chameleon skinks. For the year they were sitting on my shelf gathering dust and now they are finished. I have decided to reverse the colour scheme with them representing their strange, chameleon nature and set them apart from my skinks. Hope you all like how they turned out. Next model coming up, the Slann! (Just in time to enjoy the new AoS summoning rules ^^)
Finally I have completed the slann Xilonen himself. I took a page from one of the snippets of lore in the Seraphon Battletomb and had the dinosaurs be that of his colouration. I hope you all like it. I wonder if anyone else has this with finecast / resin models where the finish of the paints are not quite as smooth as plastic models.
