mmm... apparently, now photobucket does not allow me to post images with a direct link. Unless I upgrade my account paying something in the order of 60$/year. Anyone that uses photobucket? Can you confirm it? I'm in search of ideas / suggestions.
http://www.lustria-online.com/threa...free-image-sharing-servise.19846/#post-198247 "Photobucket no longer a free image sharing service." Yeppp.
Now, I've got a technical problem. I'm slowly moving to Imgur... however, if I try to update some of my old BatReps (this one, for a starter), it doesn't work ("Internal Server Error. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request") How's that? Does this mean that old threads cannot be edited?
Should not be, what is it you try to change in the post? I.e. attach the images to lustria, or change the links with another image service?
NOTE: Noone will need to reupload and change any images from photobucket on this forum. Took a look on it tonight and found a loophole in their "security", so running a script now that parse our posts and automatically download all images that are hosted on Photobucket. Just left to create the system that will create new attachments and replace the old photobucket links with the new attached images, hopefully I will have time to do that tomorrow or Tuesday evening.
The Red Devil, would you be interested in sharing this vital technical revelation with staff members on other hobby forums? CDO's solution will entail manual download of photobucket albums and send-over of untouched zip-files, not automatic download into attachments.
I was trying to change the link to the same image posted on Imgur. I will try again this evening, and see what happens. In case I'll PM you. unless, of course: That would be totally cool!
At this point I have successfully parsed and downloaded all images linked to this forum from PhotoBucket. All that is left is replace the content in the posts, debating if I should add them properly to the forum software as attachments, or if I should just link them directly. In either case all of the images should be updated within the next 24 hours. For anyone that is interested in the process I used to download the images linked to this forum, please take a look here: http://blog.kaizen-web.com/php/how-to-automatically-download-linked-photobucket-images/
For the future, how do you exactly do it? When I want to insert an image (using the icon with a landscape on it), I only see the option to insert the image URL, so it must be somewhere else...
Beside the "Post Reply" or "Post Topic" button (both on quick reply and full reply) you have a "Upload a file" button. This is what you use if you want to upload the image to our server. The image icon you mention is used if you want to link and show an image that is hosted somewhere else.
Now i saw it. Of course, it was staring at me, and I was unable to notice it! From now on, I know what I'm going to use to post things on Lustria from my pc.
