Hello Lustria community! I am new to the Seraphon in AOS, and really AOS as a whole (Played a couple of games with Clan Pestilins). Long time player of Warhammer Fantasy and always wanted a Lizardmen army, so here we are! Anyway enough of the useless info onto why you might have actually clicked on this. I put together a 2000 point list and was looking for suggestions. If the list sucks please don't hesitate to tell me, I have bought a lot of models already and don't mind getting more to make it better Bloodclaw Starhost...(200) Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (280) Saurus Scar Veteran on Carnosaur (240) Saurus Scar Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Sunblood (120) Saurus Warriors x40 w/Spears...(360) Saurus Warriors x10 w/Clubs...(100) Saurus Warriors x10 w/Clubs...(100) **Not in Battalion** Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Skink Starpriest (80) Skinks x10 w/Boltspitters & Shields (60) Skinks x10 w/Boltspitters & Shields (60) Razordon x2 (80) Skink Handlers (40) Thanks in advance to anyone that checked it out!
Welcome! Always nice to see another WHFB player trying out AoS at least. That's a pretty scary list already. I'd say almost as good as Saurus lists can get. A 40 Warriors blob in a Bloodclaw buffed by a Astrolith Bearer is a huge threat and the two Carnosaurs will force decisions from your opponent. Attacking one or both of them AND the threatening Warriors blob at the same time is not easy. Skinks as objective claimers and Razordons discouraging enemies to charge. Not bad at all. I would probably drop the handlers if you play the Razordons near the Astrolith Bearer. That leaves you with enough points to add another Razordon. It is a pity the list is already at the hero maximum (6) because a Priest's buff would be sweet as well. I would play it like this I think: Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (280) - General - Trait: Thickly Scaled Hide - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - Warblade - Artefact: Blade of Realities Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Sunblood (120) Skink Starpriest (80) Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Battleline 40 x Saurus Warriors (360) - Spears 10 x Saurus Warriors (100) - Clubs 10 x Saurus Warriors (100) - Clubs 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Units 3 x Razordons (120) Battalions Bloodclaw Starhost (200) Reinforcement Points (0) Total: 1980 / 2000 Allies: 0 / 400
Thank you Aginor for the tips! I really appreciate the suggestions on the traits and artifacts as well. I have been trying to figure out what fits the best here for a while. I was also thinking about possibly throwing some knights in in place of the smaller Saurus Units, but they do not seem that great. (Just really like the models!) What are your thoughts on them? I will definitely be adding the 3rd Razordon as well, that does seem to be a better way to spend those points!
Knights are glass cannons, instead of the warriors use more skinks maybe? Razordons will serve you better in the long run.
That's what I was thinking and since I want to use these units to screen the big blob of warriors, I don't think the knights can fill that role. As for skinks instead I would love to throw a group of like 40 skinks in here, but I need to use the 3 units of Saurus for the Bloodclaw. Thanks for the input Crowsfoot!
That is very true, I would be losing the command ability for 3 of the heroes and I think I would make my Scar Vet on Carno the General at that point. But adding another unit of 40 skinks could definitely be worth it... I could also think about throwing a skink priest and a 4th razordon in place of the Sunblood maybe then...?
Welcome! Im a big fan of the Scar-vet on cold-one with the blade of realities, most bc my Carnosaurs haven't come thru for me yet lol, but also bc he goes unnoticed till he wipes a unit haha.
Thanks Wazz! I hear you on the Carnos. I actually own a store in WI and got a quick little game in this weekend as I am still putting together all the models in this list. Ran into some Fyreslayers and just got wrecked! The carno did not hold his weight, pretty sure my Saurus Warriors took more dwarfs with them then he did. Granted my list wasn't anywhere near what I actually wanted to run and he has been playing Fyreslayers for a while. We only ran about 1000 points! I will make sure to bring honor back to my cold blooded brethren !
Congrats on the win! I have been trying to talk myself out of buying Fyreslayers for a while now lol they seem really solid. I'm sure once your list gets to where you want it the realms will tremble! Lol
LOL, Sorry my post wasn't really clear I was the one that got wrecked those dwarves are nasty! He ran two groups of 30 Berserkers that had a 4+/4+ Save!
Hi Everyone, I have been thinking of using the bloodclaw starhost for specific reasons (love of carnos of course ). To create a balanced army with 2000pts for this starhost seems difficult. First of all I must say that, I havent played a single game yet so I really dont know how it will all turn out, but right now thats the direction that I'm headed towards mainly because I like the look of the models. Anyways I have came up with the following army list, and I would appreciate your feedbacks Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (280) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Sunblood (120) Skink Starpriest (80) Slann Starmaster (260) - General Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - Warblade Battleline 40 x Saurus Warriors (360) - Clubs 5 x Saurus Knights (100) - Blades - Seraphon Battleline 5 x Saurus Guard (100) - Seraphon Battleline Units 2 x Razordons (80) 1 x Salamanders (40) 3 x Skink Handlers (40) Battalions Bloodclaw Starhost (200) Total: 2000 / 2000 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 116 Above it has been mentioned that our knights are glass cannons but I'd like to maximize the benefits from the Scar-vet on cold one, thats whay I wanted to keep them. I could have just stayed with razordons instead of a salamander unit, but D6 damage, mortal wound possibility and the gambling fun factor seduced me In addition to this, since this starhost is lacking some magic and shooting, I'm thinking that Slann and a Starpriest combo is not a bad idea. Unfortunately combining this starhost with another one is almost impossible in 2000pts game. (the leaders and the starhost itself costs around 1200pts.) But as I said, being quite inexperienced I am open to any suggestions.
About your artifacts, I think your carnos need to be really defensive, causing your opponent to invest even more ressources into taking them out. I like the Incandescent Rectrices on your general, but I would drop the Blade of Realities for the second carno in favor of a Coronal Shield. That 4+ -1 to hit is no joke and improves his survivability quite a bit! Edit: On a side note, I've seen you @Aginor often use the Blade of Realities in your lists, could you enlighten me on why? Just wondering your opinion vs. the Coronal Shield, I can never decide between those two for a Carnosaur but as of late I tend to favor the Shield!
I think the additional rend of the Blade of Realities is a great addition to heroes that have a good number of attacks on their melee weapon but no rend, since it helps those to punch through the armor of elite units or heroes more easily. The Coronal shield is a defensive option. I like it a lot as well. It is a bit more random but especially combined with other buffs it can turn some of our units into defensive bulwarks. Especially against enemies that rely on those good rolls, like Bloodletters getting their mortal wounds that way. If the Eternity Warden from a Eternal Starhost has it it can remove the Guards' vulnerable spot (mortal wounds) to a certain degree.
I think the Spears would be better in the Saurus-Horde because you will get more modells to attack with them
It is from the Grand Alliance Order book. You can find the page in this thread: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/help-cant-find-heavens-watch-battalion.19009/
Blood claw is great, however I recommend trying to take only the battalion. It’s one of the few good 1 drop armies left in the game.
