Alright so here's the deal, im fairly new to this whole thing, i purchased my first mini's like 2 weeks ago & could use a little advise if there's anyone willing to help a newbie out, thanks

My first purchase i thought i would keep things simple so i left my local shop with:

    1 box of skinks

a starter paint set with a basic brush, some plastic snippers, some glue & some standard crappy paints. I've threw most of the paints in the bin as they were dried out.

a can of black base spraypaint

    Abaddon black
    Calliban green
    Sotek green
    Bahharoth blue

a small base brush - which i stupidly sat on & snapped in half
    a large base brush
    a small layer brush
    a medium shade brush

I've fully assembled all the models except for 2 - i need two right arms with spears or big clubs.
not the dinky skink clubs as i have such an immense hatred of these tiny dinky clubs for the skinks

what could i use for an alternative weapon for skinks? i don't wanna fill another unit with just sheilds & spears or double spears as i like variety.

so all skins are assembled & sprayed with the black base spraypaint - execpt the two needing right arms with big clubs or spears or alternative weapons

second lot of purchases i went abit silly & spent ALOT

    I came away with

    a box or terradon riders
    a bastillodon
    a skink starpriest

    a smoothing tool
    another tub of glue
    a small dry brush

    Kantor blue
    Loren green
    Skarsnik green
    Hoeth blue
    shade nuln oil

the bastillodon is basically done i just need to put the skinks & the big Warp Gem looking thingy onto it

i opted to go for terradon riders as i think those ripperdactyl things look quite derpy!
my terradons are pretty much done i just need to put the decoration on them & the skinks etc

for terradons do i glue the small bases onto the big bases if that makes sense?
when i pop the plastic bits into the terradons & the base they tend to have a problem with balance etc unless i angle them right. I figure glueing the bases to the larger bases will solve this?

Im going back to my local store tomorrow and was wondering what else i should purchase?

other than the brush i broke, i was thinking mainly paints & not models.

im not sure what kind greens & blue's i should buy though?

    skink blue is an obvious

    any suggestions?

    Thanks, SerraphonOne

Skinks with Boltspitters are great. Teleport them and you will have range to shoot in the same turn.

Look at some of the Battalions, see which ones you like and build towards those. Lord Kroak or Slann is very useful. More Skinks are great. There are many awesome choices! =)

Thanks for the reply, I like the look of skinks & the Color variations to them, so much potential for painting.

This is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion here but i would say that i prefer Skinks over Saurus.

I take it Skinks are more like the bulk rush force of the Serraphon? if that makes sense? a kinda meat shield if you will? (although i hate the idea of this)
Skinks seem weaker than Saurus, so am i right in thinking that theirs power in numbers?

I would like to eventually get a Slann but they seem abit pricey right now.

I like the variation & choice we have, the jungle beasts & critters especially!

I had initially thought of getting the Serraphon starter box as theres a good bulk in with it but i dont like the look of the cold ones. they look kinda derpy to me. and like i said i prefer Skinks to Saurus so there doesnt seem to be alot of logic in me purchasing this?

However, the Carnosaur? is like £60 if bought by itself, And this whole box is around the same price - plus you get one with this box so is that alone worth buying the box?

Sounds like you might like the Thunderquake Battalion. Lots of Behemoths and it goes well with Skinks. 40x 10x 10x is quite common.

Skinks are better than Saurus. Skinks are expendable.

    Thunderquake Battalion? sounds interesting...

Expendable is good, i just wish we had more weapon choice, the dinky little clubs annoy me to no end! im not keen on the blow pipe thingies neither if im honest, so I've a little tub of dinky swords & blow pipes ha. I've tried to mix it up abit with the Skinks I've got so far, I don't think any of them are indentical, tried to mix it up abit, there's only so much you can do with spears and shields ha.

Im liking the red & yellow theme! never really seen this before with lizards, very volcanic look to them! i take it lustria has at least one volacanic mountain range?

not alot this time, in my local shop theres not really a great choice for Seraphon tbh so that kinda sucks. i wont stupidly sit on the brush again! ha

Lustria is gone. Seraphon come in from the stars. Memories summoned by the Slann. Mine are meant represtent celestial fire in its various degrees of intensity and black spa dust bases. :)

No. Far more dramatic. Like the old world was blown up.

Exactly. The Slann almost prevented it from happening but failed. But some of them lived to continue the fight.
