I would thin the wash and add it in layers so you can control the colour, after that a recess shade will help the individual shells pop

Sounds like the most cautious thing to do indeed. Also, i guess if you shade down too intensely and then use more yellow to revive your motif, it might pop out even more and that might be a little too much contrast (?)

Haha! I blame my wife, she likes it a lot.
I don't mind it, it is.... süffig.
Right now I am drinking a normal Pilsener though. ;)

Yeah... even I drink it... it's closer to lemonade than beer... usually I'm more for long drinks or even shots... but usually stuff in a less solid physical state... :cigar:
    Prost!

Next thing I am trying to figure out is how to attach the machinery on top (both versions) without glueing anything on top of the shell.
I want to use that Bastil as a "wild Bastiladon" in story games so I want to be able to remove all artificial parts.

I already have one or two ideas how to pull it off but if one of y'all has an idea as well I am open for it. :)

Oh btw: the wild Bastiladon will basically have an additional bite attack (domesticated Bastiladons don't use it due to training) and a better move stat (he doesn't carry a heavy thing on top), but miss the ranged attacks (those are done by the Skinks).

Guess the main difficulty is that the bars are needed for both builds but not for the wild version ... three part magnetizing! Guess there's a new conversion needed...;)

Maybe put several pins in the ark of Sotek/ solar engine, and an equal number of holes in the bastiladon carapace (making sure that the pins and holes line up).

The bars are what my idea is based on. More about that soon...

Yay my wife got me a Saurus Sunblood for my birthday! :)
Now I own most of the Seraphon lineup.

    Only ones missing:
    - Skink Starseer (going to kitbash one I think, ideas soon)
    - Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur
    - Dread Saurian
    ..
    ....
    ....I think that's it actually...

Good luck with that one :greedy::sour: but maybe an alternate model? I like the supreme detail from the expensive forgeworld one, but the face always seemed more "ratlike" than lizard.

    Same here.
If I paint one it will be an own model, because the Forgeworld DS - while having some great details - is.... Not my style. I share the "rat-like" sentiment.

Tried some ideas for the Basti. Not perfect though but I think I have found a solution that will work.

Meanwhile I started painting the Ark of Sotek and - to have a little variety - I am painting an Undead hero.

    Pics soon.

Here is my Wight King with Black Axe.
I got him for Christmas and decided now is a good time to paint him.

My favourite parts on him are the axe handle and the pelt on his back. But I also like how his armor looks really dented and old and worn. I decided to make it blood red and then give it a chipped look by using a bit of metal here and there.

I added some blood to him (mainly on his legs and feet) to make him look more aggressive and I chose green as the color for the axe because my ghosts are all green and that is an axe full of Death magic. That's also the reason why there is no blood on the axe itself. The axe blade is also tinted a bit green. That was achieved by drybrushing it wieh a light grey and then putting some green glaze over it.
For the handle I painted it white first, then shaded it green, layered it up to white again leaving only the deep crevices green, and then glazing over it with Waywatcher Green glaze.

Shading the cloak was also fun, because this time the task wasn't to have a nice even shade but to have those water marks and stains on purpose.

For the base I will keep the snow theme that I have used for all of my undead, but for him I will try and give him some blood in the snow, an effect I haven't used yet.

And here is a short WIP of the Ark of Sotek for my Bastiladon.

On my table is my other one from a year ago and wow I may want to rework that older one a bit because this one looks so much better.
