AoS Heavenswatch vs Murderhost 2k

    So I'm prepping for a local tournament and asked my Khorne playing friend to give me a good run out with a murderhost as I haven't played one before.

    Mission was knife to the Heart and my list was:

    Slann, Great Rememberer
    Starseer, Incandescent Retrices
    Skink Priest, Priestly Trappings, Celestial Rites
    Skink Starpriest
    Engine of the Gods, Coronial Shield

    20 Skinks with blowpipes and shields
    10 Skinks with blowpipes and shields
    10 Skinks with blowpipes and shields

    2 x Bastiladons with Solar Engines
    4 x Razordons

    Heavenswatch starhost

    2000pts

    His:

    Khorne Herald
    Bloodletter hero on juggernaut (can't remember which)

    2 x 10 fleashounds
    2 x 30 bloodletters
    20 bloodletters

    3 skull cannons.

    Set up: He set up in a nice long line and I tried to use my 20 skink unit as a buffer, in hindsight I should have set up further back but hey ho.

    Turn 1: He understandably goes first, moving most of his army within an easy charge range. Got some luck as he rolls a double 1 on a unit of letters for his free move, stopping the 20 behind from moving fast too.

    Shoots 2 razordons and a couple of skinks from my 20 man unit then charges into them.

    Wipes the 20 unit of skinks but my bastiladons pile in and cause some damage, he also kills 3 skinks from another unit.

    My turn I target the one unit of 30 letters in combat with my basti's for my formation. Use arcane bolt and engines mortal wound shot to kill his general and put summon starlight on the target unit of letters killing 2.

    I teleport my last razordon to safety and in movement re-from my bubble of skinks around my heroes with the basti's at the point and move the engine ready to charge the target unit.

    Razordon shoots one of the letters from the 20 man unit, taking it's buff away and the rest of the shooting and combat kills 24 letters from the target unit due to some rubbish rolling on my part. To rub salt in the wound he rolls a 1 for battleshock and gets 3 models back!.

    Turn 2: Priority goes to me which is much needed! I choose the other unit of 30 letters as my target unit for the starhost. I ignore the flesh hound units as one is tied up with a basti and the other can only charge a screen of skinks any way. Razordon does nothing and I target the 30 letters with shooting and magic, killing 25 in the process. Basti's and Engine continue to grind wounds off the hounds and the remaining letters.

    His turn he shoots 2 wounds off the starseer. He moves his now 19 man unit of letters to attack my skinks and Engine on the right, charging in and killing 4 skinks for the loss of a couple of letters before the skinks run away from combat. His charging hounds wipe out my other unit of skinks leaving my heros exposed. Big priority roll again.

    Turn 3: I get priority! The 10 hounds are my starhost priority this turn. I hit 3 units out of 4 with the Engines whirlpool causing a total of 7 mortal wounds, tasty! I hit the 17 or so letters left with summon starlight and arcane bolt taking another 4 off. Shooting wipes out the 10 hounds including 15 damage off one basti! It also takes another 5-6 letters out and finishes the herald off. I take a couple of letters and a hound out in CC.

    His turn: He hasn't got the bodies to move me off my objective so shoots and kills my starseer. I forget to use the retrices...doh! Combat is a grind fest, me taking a wound off his hounds to nothing in return.

    Turn 4: I win priority again and teleport my engine onto his objective, I kill some more hounds leaving 3 left in combat, not much else happens but I charge my engine into his skull cannon and take two wounds off it.

    His turn: Charges his other two skull cannons and takes 8 wounds off my engine and loses the rest of the hounds.

    Turn 5: Priority is mine again, not much happens I heal 4 wounds on the engine and all the shooting and combat comes to nothing.

    His turn, shoots my last Razordon and kills the Engine in CC.

    Good report! List seems to have good consistency with the seer engine combo, good luck at the tournament!

    Yeah he may well have done, though he's a good friend of mine who doesn't think ahead too much during a game lol

    Nice battle report! I didn't realize just how many models were on the playing field until I saw your pictures... that is a ton of khorne dudes to face off against your lizards!

    I also like your simple but effective terrain setup.
