    Hello fellow Lizard-folk!

I got the pleasure to play this weekend a small one day event at a local store. Great event, 1250 points due to size issue (small shop, only 4x4 tables available) but extremely fun and competitive.

Rules were quite original, you had to make two lists with at least 500 different points and the list played in each game was determined at the start of each game by the roll of a die.

I took my trusty Salamanders as usual, my two lists were as follows:

    LIST 1
    - Horde of Fire Elementals with Nimble
    - Horde of Fire Elementals
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors with Hammer
    - Agnes
    - Mage-Priest with Surge, Martyr's Prayer and Inspiring
    - Mounted Battle-Captain
    - Lekelidon

    LIST 2
    - 2 Hordes of Tyrants
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors with Hammer
    - Horde of Skyraiders with Jar
    - Lekelidon
    - Skylord
    - Mounted Battle-Captain
    - Herald with Healing Charm

Scenarios were also determined randomly for all the games in the round.

FIRST GAME - BROTHERHOOD, TAKE AND HOLD

Great first opponent, never played against him and I love that, and first time playing Take and Hold (spoilers: IT'S GREAT FUN)

The TO rolled to determine the lists we will be using at our table and List 2 was chosen. His list 2 was:

    - 2 Regiments of Order of the Brotherhood, one had the Healing Brew
    - Horde of Bowmen with Jar
    - Legion of Villein Plowshares
    - Troop of Reconnoiterers
    - Devoted with Heal (4) and Shroud of the Saint
    - Exemplar Redeemer

Tough list, extremely hard to crack with great shooting and amazing Healing, only thing is the only Inspiring source will want to be doing things other things rather than be Inspiring so I plan on taking that to my advantage.

My plan was to take the middle in the Difficult terrain and behind the Obstacle while my Skyraiders and Tyrants dealt with huge block of Infantry and then move into the middle for support.

My Battle-Captain and Skylord job would be shutting down those Bowmen and try to keep the Redeemer busy.

The game started well. He gave me first turn, what I wanted, And I moved as fast as possible forwards, hidding my Skylord behind the Impassable terrain on the right. My Skyraiders took out the Reconnoiterers in turn 1 with ease.

My lonely Battle-Captain shut down his shooting two turns before dying to the Redeemer, job done, he actually gave me a charge on his knights with my Tyrants behind the Obstacle and I took it with a smile, Legion and Tyrants played the Mexican stand-off while Skyraiders shoot at them. My Skylord danced around his other knights while shooting them while they went for the objective on the army right

Eventually the Legion was quite wounded and I broke the stand-off moving into range, my counter-charge was devastating and the Legion was killed after that the Devoted was next.

The middle went great as well, Tyrants killed the Knights in two turns and the Redeemer too when he dared charge them. A mistake on my part got the Ghekkotah killed by a rear charge when I sidestep them to capture an objective but that got the Knights in a Kill zone with my Lekelidon and Skyraiders and they were shot off the table, after they did the same with the Bowmen.

End result was closer than you might imagine 5-4 in VPs. Close game but attrition was brutal on my part and we ended 19-1

SECOND GAME - FORCES OF NATURE, PUSH

Still on table 1, this time I'm playing against a well known player, he won the past tournament and I haven't been able to beat him yet. Tough opponent and a very strange list, we got List 2 again and his list was:

    - Horde of Naiads
    - Horde of Fire Elementals
    - Horde of Woodland Critters with Fly and Ensnare
    - Horde of Wyrmriders
    - Druid with Rallying spell
    Allies:
    - Regiment of Basilean Paladin Foot-guard
    - Troop of Crossbowmen
    - Arbalest

His shooting was a big concern as sustained damage can very easily kill my units on the long run. Also that Horde of Woodland Critters is scary and cheap. My plan was to use the Skyraiders to deal with them while my two Hordes of Tyrants took the left flank and the Ghekkotah held the middle, specially using the speed to fight the Fire Elementals to fully utilise their Hammer. Flyers should deal with the shooting, no problem.

On the left I baited his Wyrmriders with a Horde of Tyrants and placed the other for a counter-charge the Skylord went to hunt down the Crossbowmen and the Skyraiders moved up to shoot anything that moved.

The left flank went well, Wyrmriders took the bait and we're killed in return, Paladin went for the Tyrants and the Naiads went on the flank as well killing them, the other Tyrants killed the Paladins and reformed to face the Naiads there were caged at this time and died after failing to kill the Lekelidon.

Right went well too, Skyraiders failed to kill the Arbalest but next turn shoot down the Horde of Woodland Critters in one go and moved to support the middle. Ghekkotah Warriors charged the Fire Elementals and killed them in two turns.

Final turns were the Skyraiders killing the Crossbowmen that managed to kill the Skylord somehow and the druid and Arbalest dying to the Battle-Captain. I had all the tokens in his half.

After eating it was time for a last round of combat and I was still on Table 1. Very convenient not having to move your army around.

    THIRD GAME - DWARVES, RANSACK

I was hoping to get List 1 this time as I really wanted to test it, my opponent was again a very, VERY tough player. He came second on the last tournament and again trampled me with ease that time.

He is a Dwarf player, both his lists were similar having two big Hordes of Infantry and two Regiment of Brocks with a flying Ranger. So both seemed extremely disgusting to face. The TO came to our table and rolled the dice to determine our list and.... List 2 again! (only person in the tournament to play the same list in every game)

He told me this was his hardest list, great.

    - 2 Hordes of Ironclad with Mastiffs
    - 2 Regiments of Brock Riders
    - 2 Troops of Sharpshooters
    - ASB with Flying Hammer
    - Organ Gun
    - Ranger with Wings

My plan was to take advantage of his slow movement and bait his Brocks into bad positions and kill them as fast as possible while my shooting and Heroes kill his shooting and then I would deal with his Hordes.

He took turn 1, great choice for me as I was planning on giving it to him anyways, his Sharpshooters Fire and do minimal damage on my shooting units, Brocks advance aggressively on both flanks and the Hordes move up slowly, the Ranger fly up to my backfield. My turn one the Skyraiders shoot and kill the Organ Gun (HELL YEAH! That might be enough to put me ahead), Battle-Captain charge the Ranger and they keep hitting eachother with sticks for almost the whole game. The Skylord can charge the flank of the Brocks on the right and puts 5 wounds on them while the Ghekkotah Warriors move to charge them next turn when they kill the Skylord. On the left I move into range of the Brockhall position for a flank if he takes the bait.

He takes the bait on the left and kills the Skylord on the right, next turn both units of Brocks are killed, one with a multicharge of both Tyrants and the other with a mighty charge of the Ghekkotah Warriors that put 13 WOUNDS on the Brocks. With the biggest threats on his list killed the game was a smooth sail from now on.

Skyraiders killed the Sharpshooters, the Horde on the Left was multicharged by the Two Tyrants, survived and one of them got killed in response and then the Ironclad died from another charge.

The Horde on the middle got multicharged rear and front by Skyraiders and Ghekkotah Warriors, but I rolled a Double one. Next turn they failed to kill the Skyraiders and got rear-ended by Ghekkotah Warriors dying this time.

19-1 Victory with all objectives captured.

Being the only one undefeated I WON!!!!

    Perfect day for the Salamanders.

He does mainly bases for KoW and movement trays but his tokens are amazing and he is even thinking about getting into custom dice! We'll see.
