Hello, this is my first post here. I've come across a number of posts of people using papo dinosaurs as an alternative to the dread saurian, and I'm hoping to find out if anyone has some advice for my plans.

I've purchased a papo's running trex and quite like the look of the drakespawn (redone cold ones for dark elves).

I'm considering trying to sculpt on some additions to the Trex to make the build slightly reminiscent of the drakespawn models, sculpt on some harness type ropes, and attach a number of dark eldar wyches models and iodenth deepkin namarti reavers. I'm most interested in this simply as a hobby project, though I'll likely use it as a dread saurian (opponent willing) in AoS.

I currently have some drakespawn with wyches/reavers running next to them in mind as stormcast extremis chamber 'counts-as'. I'm hoping that these will all look cool together once completed haha.

    My questions:

    1) sculpting on spikes and ridged scales, would doing so with greenstuff right on top of the dinosaur figure as-is be satisfactory? Is it recommended to somehow remove the current paint job to ensure the greenstuff sticks better? I imagine drilling some holes to place pins to sculpt spikes around would be safest.

    2) similar to above, I like the idea of trying to repaint it in colors more similar to my drakespawn. Would this be easiest to do simply by spray priming over the dinosaur as it is currently, or would anyone recommend I again look into finding a way to remove the current paint job?

    3) Is there any general advice that might be worth considering before moving forward with this that I haven't specifically asked for?

I apologize if these are common questions, I did not come across answers so far.

I know which T Rex model you are talking about but don't own one myself.

That being said, in looking over the drakespawn (the old dark elf cold ones) it looks like most of the spikes are located on their backs:

I would assume that if you restricted adding spikes to the t-rex's back, and maybe some big ones for his nose and the top of his neck, you should be set.

Thanks Warden, and yep, those are my general plans. Do you have any tips for my first two questions by any chance?
