Like all of you, I am super excited to summon some lizards. That being said, for those of us that have collected with certain lists in mind and don't have 5k point of lizards we are in a tough spot.

Imagine a 2k point game in which you have a EoTG and a Slann. Things are going well and it's your turn 2. You already have 2k points of Seraphon on the board and you've already summoned 20 skinks from the EoTG the first turn. You roll well and now you want to summon 3 Salamanders and 10 skinks from the Slann. The EoTG pops off again and you want 3 Rippers. This is turn 2 and you just summoned roughly $160 of models in addition to your 2k list.

The thing is, you won't always be popping off and summoning 500 extra points, but you will need to be prepared to!! Not only that, you will want to have a ton of models because every situation is different. It's a good problem to have, but for someone who tries to not over collect and spend a fortune it will be a challenge.

Especially those damn Sallies/Razordons.... Some games it might be best for you to summon 8+ Salamanders. Which sounds fing awesome, but fing expensive and I hate those damn models.

What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

Works for me. If Seraphon sell a bunch more models GW might pay us some proper attention. The only down side is painting all those models ;)

Opportunity costs are big for me right now. My wife and I are buying a home, so every dollar is tight. But I agree, more Seraphon models the better, but it will be expensive for those just getting into the clan or like myself, looking to add new models.

For me, I already have a large collection, so I'm not too worried about having things to summon. But I know not everyone has that advantage. For money, what my wife and I do is give ourselves some spending money in the weekly budget, so I get a little every week I can save up to buy more models.

Budgets are great. If you are patient and hunt Ebay like I do, you can also find good deals. Certain models/paint jobs are also not too bad to stripe and repaint. I just bought these on ebay for pretty cheap. I going to greenstuff and Seraphon bits to use them as Salamanders. They are old sculpts but are no worse looking than our current Sallies.

I have some unmounted cold ones I just proxy as Salamanders and Razors, I don't have fins or spikes on them as I don't have any spare fins yet. However they're on the same base as a salamander and are actually slightly taller so most people don't care.

As it stands I would advise any Seraphon player to check Ebay, the subreddit called Miniswap and other online places to get second hand models. I have just about every model in the range and I've only bought 2 start collecting boxes and a dread saurian. Everything else is second hand that I just stripped the paint off of and painted my way.

I also want to say that I don't think the EOTG is worth it anymore, summoning 3 rippers or 20 skinks is ok, but I'd rather spend the points elsewhere.

i disagree about the EoTG but to each their own. We did some quick math and with a Slann and Curse of Fate up you get the summon pretty oftern. Roughly 60-70% ish. 20 skinks for free is awesome. Really good imo, but maybe once i play with it my opinion will change.

Either way, you are right about eBay. You will want almost every model if you are summoning!

What's your experience with Miniswap like? Is the community large enough that you can find Lizardmen/Seraphon models?

When it comes to Seraphon miniswap is a bit unreliable. Sometimes there's good offers but you'll find Seraphon every time you check. That's why I mostly use miniswap for my templars in 40k. For me summoning looks great but I guess now I'll need to abandon my "no skink" policy and buy a box of skirmishers for easy summoning.

I love miniswap, to date it has been my best deals. For 150$ I got a Stegadon, a Slann, a starmaster, an oldblood on Carno, an Oldblood, 50 Saurus Warriors, 40 Skinks, and 10? knights a long with a ton of bits.

I will have to explore this mini swap you speak of. Seraphon was my first tabletop army. I probably paid too much for what I got. Glad I was able to pick up that thunderbeast host box when it was available at least.

GW are clever and they come up with some very good ways to earn your $, GW with the introduction of AOS2 have given you the choice, summon in and spend $ or cast spells and save your hard earned $, luckly I have spare Seraphon and could probably summon in 4K worth of models so it won't really affect me unless they bring out new models.

Saying that I do want another Basilidon and some skinks, warriors, guards, razordons and maybe rippers

Well I already bought several Carnos and Trogs, until I get my Dread Saurian they're gonna be my one summon per turn. I feel like summoning giant monsters for free is scarier than Skinks or even gunbeasts.

I am sorely tempted to get 4x Sallies and 4x Razordons. There is a really stupid Draco's Tail combo I could try out with them
