    Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if a new player / where to start thread already exists. If so please let me know.

I'm just getting into Age of Sigmar and table top gaming in general. I had loads of fun with the Lizardmen in TWW2 and I wanted to try out the game that started it all, but I'm a bit lost and everything is freaking expensive so I don't want to buy useless models.

So, if I want a thematic, but decent army for either narrative or competitive play, where should I start? I love my sinks and dinos and I love the idea of using a Slann to summon spam units, but I'm not sure if that is viable and I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on an army that is useless.

    Any advice?

    Welcome aboard,

I don't usually recommend against a Start Collecting box as it's such a good deal but from what you say I would not buy it yet and look towards building an army around a Thunderquake batallion, big dinos and tough but it won't be cheap.

search ebay for armies that you may pick up cheap and watch some youtube vids and see what people run in their games.

Are you playing against friends? have they got armies?

    Welcome!

Be aware that the world TWW2 plays in doesn't exist anymore. It was destroyed during the End Times and the game is somewhat different now.
Most units of the Lizardmen still exist (Mazdamundi and Skink Chiefs for example aren't in the game anymore though).

As for starting the game: The big dinosaurs are all worth it in a Skink army, except maybe the Carnosaur which doesn't fit Skinks too well.

Thanks! I'll look up the Thunderquake battalion. I may still go for the start collecting box since it's basically a bunch of free saurus with a scar veteran on a carnasaur.

I'm in Ottawa, Canada where there is a decent AoS community, but I don't have any friends who play. I'll need to start with pick up games for now. Hopefully, I can find a group into narrative play. That sounds quite interesting.

Hey Crowsfoot, I see you have SC smashing guides. Do you have a how too guide for the troglodon and skink rider? I assume I would need a SC box and a skink priest. Anything else?

It’s all in that thread, you end up with a few extra models from the SC box

You end up with the Carny and Trog from one box
