Hello everyone, first of all I want to tell you that this community is the best, I really like that there is a special forum for Seraphon, I like it so much that's why I'm learning English (Hello from Peru :D)!

Well, the issue is that I would like to know how to put together an army that can fight against the following type list of nighthunts:

    1) Allegiance: Nighthaunt

    Leaders
Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (140)
Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)
    - General

    Battleline
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    6 x Spirit Hosts (240)

    Total: 1000 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 89

    2) Allegiance: Death

    Leaders
Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)
    - General
Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (140)

    Battleline
    40 x Chainrasp Horde (280)
    40 x Chainrasp Horde (280)

    Units
    8 x Myrmourn Banshees (160)

    Total: 1000 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 99

*I didn't know artefacts and command trait

The problem is that I currently have a Starting Collector and a Skink Starpriest with the following composition:
    - 1 Troglodon
    - 12 S Warriors
    - 8 S Knight
    - 1 Saurus Oldblood
    - 1 Skink Starpriest

I have the option to buy a box of skinks and a box of Ripperdactyls (to play with the battalion Shadowstar) or a second box SC, or somethiing else in that price range (shipping is expensive)??

Finally the big dilemma is that I can not play Invocation because since if I buy a Slann, I will not have enough units to invoque.

Could you help me build a more optimal list with these conditions?

I put these possible lists (1) if i buy 1 more SC and (2) for the skinks and Ripper:

    1) Allegiance: Seraphon

    Leaders
    Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240)
    - General
    - Warblade
    - Trait: Thickly Scaled Hide
    - Artefact: Coronal Shield
    Skink Starpriest (80)
    - Artefact: Prism of Amyntok

    Battleline
    5 x Saurus Knights (90)
    - Blades
    5 x Saurus Knights (90)
    - Blades
    5 x Saurus Knights (90)
    - Blades
    20 x Saurus Warriors (200)
    - Clubs

    Battalions
    Firelance Starhost (150)

    Total: 940 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 66

    2) Allegiance: Seraphon

    Leaders
    Skink Starpriest (80)
    - General
    - Trait: Master of Star Rituals
    - Artefact: Prism of Amyntok
    Saurus Oldblood (120)
    - Warblade
    - Artefact: Coronal Shield

    Battleline
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
    10 x Saurus Warriors (100)
    - Clubs
    5 x Saurus Knights (90)
    - Blades

    Units
    3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)

    Behemoths
    Troglodon (160)

    Battalions
    Shadowstrike Starhost (180)

    Total: 990 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 72

    Thanks for the answers :)

So glad you found the community. I also love it here.

Shadowstrike is one of my favorite armies. However, I am not certain how well you will fair vs Nighthaunt who is spamming Chainrasp horde. If your opponent is savvy he will zone out your Ripperdactyls and prevent your deep strike. Although, as far as armies to work up to I would say that Shadow Strike is currently Seraphon's best tournament list.

If you go with a second SCBox then I would consider putting the Sword of Judgement on your Scar Veteran on Carnosaur. The artifact is from the realm of Ulgu in the Malign Sorcery box. It causes +6's to hit to deal D6 mortal wounds. If you equip it on a Warspear or Warblade you can get some pretty high damage numbers. @Crowsfoot has a guide to get the most out of SC box here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threa...rom-your-start-collecting-seraphon-box.20560/

Lastly, I would reccomend looking into both Thunderquake Starhost and Fangs of Sotek. Outside of Shadowstrike these are our most competitive list.

I'd go with the SC box. It fleshes out your overal army more. Remember to build one of the Knights as a scar-vet on cold one & the skink prophet from the troglodon as a priest/starpriest for maximum use out of the box :p.

Anyways, a shadowstrike is nice, but it leaves your battleline as little more than fodder. Which means your terradons and troglodon will have to do basicly all the work. Having multiple Knights in a starhost, especially with a scar-vet leading them probably gives you a better chance of actually chewing through the nighthaunt.

If you'd want to stick with the shadowstrike I'd suggest either getting way more skinks, so you can field a unit of 40 which actually does something resembling damage, or getting some chameleons. As well as replacing the various saurus with some other supporting units since the saurus don't really belong in a shadowstrike list. What could be interesting would be to get some kroxigor given the amount of hordes you're facing.

    Welcome!
    Good tips here already.
To be honest I am not sure there is a really good way to stop the new Nighthaunt stuff consistently.
But just putting regular wounds on them and trying to stop their heroes is probably the best way.

Thanks for the answers! I'm going to buy a 2nd SC of Seraphon! I hope my Knights will fight hard :D
I think that to destroy armies based on hordes, I have to play with Razordons (2 units of 4 xD).
Post behind the front lines should be easy to kill them ( the problem is that they not sell razordons here :/ ).

Mwha, stegadons with flamethrowers or Kroxigor are our dedicated anti-horde stuff. An eternal starhost also works if the horde has no mortal wounds. Razordons on the other hand aren't really anti-horde, they just have a crapton of attacks, but that works on any target :p

long live the internets where you can order stuff :p
