Nope, for me it is always quality > quantity

I would never want to churn out a bunch of models that I am not happy with.

Agree. Even my 100+ Skellies are painted with quite some detail. I just cannot do it differently.

Oh, I missed that post, sorry!
Yeah, I imagine it won't be easy. It is kinda fragile.
I will probably build it in a way that allows disassembling it to make it easier.

OK then, So paint one model, paint it well, then move on to another one...?

The @NIGHTBRINGER version of the paint binge could be :shifty: One > Zero.

I had forgotten that @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER took a single of picture of the board at the start of turn 1. Behold all the unpainted glory!

Almost won a game of Adeptus Titanicus today, followed by a rather productive WFRP campaign session that also saw one of our group members have to roll up a new character after his Bretonnian priest of Manann drowned.

    It was glorious!

...except for the Screaming Skull Catapult... that was most definitely not glorious. They have failed me for the last time!

In about half a dozen games with my TK they have done absolutely nothing.

In this past game, my lone SSC did the following:
    • Turn 1: miss completely
    • Turn 2: miss completely
    • Turn 3: miss completely
    • Turn 4: miss completely
    • Turn 5: blow itself up!

So the SSC are out and my beloved Sepulchral Stalkers are in. As poorly as I've rolled for the SSC, the universe has evened things out with absolutely amazing rolls for my Stalkers.

Got the Screaming Bell built, well built in separate pieces. Along with some Dilophosors from The Drowned Earth.
Going back to looking at my Tyranids, being asked for another game at one point. With the same guy who owes me for those miniatures and doesn't like playing by the AoS rules :p
It would be 40k this time, he said about his 4000 points worth of Orks.
Now what Tyranids can munch on Orks well.....

“Now here we can see one of the rarest Warhammer species - a NIGHTBRINGER battle report shot.” - David Attenborough

    :D :p ;)

In all seriousness though, that is a great Battle Report shot. Some questions:

Is that a scratch-built Heirotitan I see at the back between the Skeleton Archers and the catapult and casket?

Why is there a unit of ten Skinks behind the closest unit of Glade Guard?

And why did your wife use a unit of 5 Dryads all on its own? @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER, perhaps you could elaborate on your tactical decision?

Also, who won in the end? I like TK and Wood Elves so I don’t mind who wins there.

I would say quite a few. I’ve played my dad’s Orks many times with my Tyranids and have won most of the time (I don’t mean to brag), but those games were 5th and 6th Edition, rather than the abomination that is 8th Edition. All I can say is take a Tyrannofex with rupture cannon or two to deal with his vehicles, take a Hive Tyrant with boneswords or Swarmlord to nom his characters and just spend the rest of the points on things that can take them in melee. Orks are generally terrible in shooting despite the improvements in 8th that make Bad Moons shooty, so most of your monsters will be fine when they get into melee I’d say. Perhaps take some Zoanthropes too to deal with Weirdboys. Just make sure you have plenty of Synapse Creatures - I once lost a game against them due to not taking enough Synapse creatures so that my Hormagaunts ate each other, my Termagants kept going backwards and forwards due to fleeing and rallying and my Tyrannofex simply sat down and refused to move until he was torn apart by a Nob with Power Klaw.

I think I have an Exocrine, the good thing about the large Tyranid monsters is that most of their weapons have crazy range, so being that the tables are about 4 game tiles I can sit back most of the time (unless they changed that in the FaQ, need to check) With my last game against Imperial Guard, my army felt more like a troll one, was using Biovores and every time they would miss I would place a Spore right in front of the tanks. Wasting their shots pretty much as it was either ignore them or get blasted when the Spore touched the tank. I still lost though. Having new models added to the army like the Harpy, Exocrine and Sporocyst.
Maybe I should just annoy with the Spores again :D

Exocrines are very nice - gave the Tyranids their first AP2 missile weapon in the highly underrated 6th Edition codex. I would still recommend a Tyrannofex though as they have the best armour save of any Tyranid unit (at least before 8th they did) and the Rupture Cannon is a glorious anti-tank weapon.

Also how did you still lose even though you were repeatedly busting tanks with spores?

Well I think the army started to fall apart when I lost my Canifex, being one of the few units in my army at the time capable of flipping tanks. Shouldn't of put the workload on the fella as when he tackled a tank, the crew jumped out and pelted him with bullets. In one shot.
Now next time I remember to have a few more anti-tanks, as I see they are a common unit in lists. Also he did focus on the Spores each time cause he knew the damage they can do. Didn't help running a Tervigon with Termas. It was a mix of mass horde and that one Carno, Biovore and the Tervi spawning in Termas.
Problem when your opponent knows Tyranids well so I can't pull any surprises, that's why I'm working on a Beasts-based Dark Eldar army. May flop but it's a surprise army as he hates them.

Was this tank a Chimera? If so I can understand as it is a transport tank, otherwise I don’t as Battle Tanks don’t have crew models.

Hahahaha :D. Almost as rare as the NIGHTBRINGER painted model!

    Thank you!

It's not scratch built. It is made from left over parts via the TK Sphinx kit and a conversion kit.

    http://www.lustria-online.com/threa...onversion-blog-oh-my.20456/page-2#post-218236

LOL. My wife didn't have the correct models. She needed something to represent 20mm skirmishers. I think they were Wardancers.

Those Dryads are representing Treekin. We placed them over top 40mm cardboard bases to get the footprint correct. They performed pretty well for her in the game. They finished off the last 2 wounds of the Necrosphinx (right after the Necorsphinx finished off the last wound on the Dragon ) and then ate both skeleton horsemen archer units that I sacrificed to keep them off of my mage bunker.

By day's end, the battle belonged to the Nehekharan boys. TK = 1980 victory points to the WE = 1155 victory points. So an 825 victory point differential in my favour. Interestingly, I only had about 350 victory points heading into the top of turn 5. So it took a bit of last minute heroics by the TK to pull this one off.

I’ve just looked at that and it looks great, although are you going to give it any arms? ;)

Also I’m assuming the legs are from the conversion kit? In any case, where did they come from? They look so much like a classical statue’s legs that they look really fitting as a Heirotitan lower body.

I see that now. Perhaps some Kurnoth Hunters would be more fitting as Tree Kin proxies? I mean, they look about the right size and they were done in the style of the plastic Fantasy Treeman so wouldn’t look out of place. I’m sure that some appropriately-sized wooden bases would be pretty easy to make.

They must have got lucky wound rolls against a Toughness 8 Necrosphinx!

That’s a pretty nicely-balanced game - were the Wood Elves using their 8th Edition rules? If so, it’s nice to see that the last Army Book ever written was a well-balanced one.

Not entirely certain as all tanks look the same to me, I think they have access to that one weapon that let's them shoot anywhere on the board. I can't remember clearly. Well got this Carnosaur.Carnifex mix I need to finish building, take down to the store and ask what build I can run it as. Also another Carnifex to build.

Meanwhile I've dusted off the Centaur Saurus, going to glue them onto their bases. Still trying to think on what story and stuff for them, still trying to fit that 4th slot. As all the Seraphon armies I made are linked in ways.
