As I’ve gotten back into the habit, I realized most of my minis are collecting dust in my parent’s attic on the other side of the continent. So I bought an SC box with the goal of converting as many interesting LM characters as I could. Here’s my first WIP:

    Some more pics per request:
    IMG_4035.JPG IMG_4037.JPG

And here's the same guy on a cold one:

    IMG_4032.JPG IMG_4019.JPG

Would love to hear feedback, tips, or other things I can improve before I paint ‘im.

I’ve also got some fluff forthcoming for this guy, once it’s ready I’ll update the post with a link for those interested.

The pose on the one on foot is amazing; it gives it a sense of movement and it feels as if it is hissing its warcry to the skies above!

Lovely work on the ScV on Cold One. You added a lot of movement to a rather static model!

More pictures of the first model would be awesome! Really like how you've captured the movement and savageness !

Looking good. The on foot version is really nice. Like a leader roaring to the sky as for to call his pack to attack the enemy and strike fear to said enemy's heart.
Really like how the mounted version is holding his warpick in the mouth ready to grab quickly as he continues to bring death on the enemy after loosing/using his other weapon... of which I can't really say what it is... kind of a double flail? If so: not directly the weapon I'd give my cavalry forces... twohanded and so on, you know... I'd say spears or lances all the way... (or the 1851british cavalry saber according to Matt Easton... but context... ;)) if it's supposed to be some kind of fire leech bola I'd say that fits better cause it can be used onehanded... (and Matt said missle weapons work great from horseback...)
if you want it to be on the flaily side make it some kind of morning star... the dangling chainy thing on the banner pole could work as a chain for the morning star...
Anyways some nice conversions you made there!

Thanks all for the kind words!

I'll see if I can get one with better lighting this weekend. And of course I'll post updates once it's painted.

It is indeed! Or at least that was the intent. (It's supposed to be cinched around the waist of the on foot model) I might be able to tweak the part that dangles below the hand to make it seem less rigid.

Maybe use some thick wire or cable that can bend in a more rope like shape?
The foot version was actually the reason why the bola came to my mind... you noted it's the same guy in both models so I thought the weapons might be the same...

Both miniatures tell great little stories, which is always my favorite thing to see. Love the emotion in the first and the creativity of the backup weapon in the second!

Here's my next WIP, this guy I was trying to make look super attentive, so I stood him up straighter and put his head on more of a swivel than most LM.

Here he is mounted and standing up in his saddle: [Edit: now painted!]

I really need to get a makeshift lightbox, at least before I post pics of these guys painted!

As always let me know your thoughts!

So I'm learning I'm a really slow painter, but that's partially because I'm distracted by the next set of kitbashes/conversions I'm working on. I haven't been idle these past months, so here's some WIP on painting my SC Saurus, including a few models you folks haven't seen yet.

Here's the on foot bola wielding Vet:
    IMG_20190107_154557.jpg
Xaxin the Vindicator - His spawning was assigned to guard a coastal shrine near Huatl. After decades of raiding parties thinned their ranks, Xaxin lost patience with the inaction dictated by the will of his Slann. He defected and commandeered an empire ship to pursue daring missions of revenge all over the known world. Legends abound of his victories in the name of Sotek.

And our attentive friend from earlier:
    IMG_20190107_154614.jpg
Chotlaz the Attuned - While patrolling in the northern jungles with his spawn brothers, Chotlaz sensed an incoming attack. He jumped in front of the supernatural missile that hurtled from the trees, and as the tale goes, Tepok’s hand reached down from the heavens and extinguished the magical gout of flame. Their ambush a failure, the small troop of warmbloods was no match for the marauding Saurus.

This guy's an homage to my very first conversion all those years ago:
    IMG_20190107_154635.jpg
Argor the Blade-Legged - After a warp lightning cannon blast took out his unit’s command group and claimed his lower leg, he grabbed a fallen spear as a crutch and led a heroic charge to rally his spawn brothers to victory. He became a respected leader and champion of Chotec, deadly with his bladed prosthetic limb.

And two more new warriors in the ranks [Edit: with more paint!]:
    IMG_20190107_154536.jpg
Terroq of the Long Throw - Blessed by Tzunki, Terroq was the only Saurus spawned with a cohort of Skinks. Like his spawn brothers, he is more intelligent than his Saurian counterparts, and prefers thrown javelins to hand weapons. His “javelins” of course, are in fact full spears that he unleashes with mighty strength. The stories praise his exploits as a scout and agent behind enemy lines.

    IMG_20201018_154126.jpg
Soqraz the Still - Favored by Tlazcotl, legend has it that Soqraz once stood vigil for so long that the jungle began to grow in and around him. When enemies finally attacked the shrine he was guarding, he and his spawn brothers emerged from the jungle like living trees, slaughtering all who stood opposed.

Last but not least, the group in formation (and an angle that shows their blessed spawning colors):
    IMG_20190107_154805.jpg
Tzaloqaxruztecah (Ones Born from Dust) - An ever-changing band of legendary heroes from the old world brought back to serve as elite special forces all across the eight realms.

C&C welcome, I'm mostly stuck deciding on color schemes for the detailing work on these guys. I'm also interested to get feedback on the cohesiveness of the paint on them so far.

I like the paint scheme on this guy the most, and I enjoyed the fluff blurbs for all your conversions!

I tried to do fluff for my lizards as well, glad you are coming up with such great backstory! :D

So I'm continually torn between waiting to reveal my projects for when the models are all painted up and pretty or to show off as I go, but given how slow my painting is proving to be I'm going with more WIP :D

Given that, here are a few oldblood conversions I've been doing. Building up my sculpting muscles a bit too!

    IMG_20190113_094652.jpg IMG_20190113_094542.jpg
I can't decide between giving him a shield or have him dual wielding (I have a second set of weapons from the battleforce kit I picked up, also that means skinks are coming). Thoughts?

I also managed to get my hands on leftover pieces from a Kurnoth Hunter box, and I think I found some cool ways to integrate them with a big ol armored Saurus.

[Edit: Here he is painted all these years later!]

Thoughts and feedback welcome! Also happy to expand on how I did certain things.

While the scythe looks good I think it would look better if you cut of the top just below the ring and turned it 180 degrees.

I realized part of my glacial painting pace comes from having to pick color schemes, so here's a quick conversion project that didn't require me to come up with my own colors. Hope you enjoy!
