Hi guys, Just started with Aos just about 4 months ago. and now have a Stormcast army and a Seraphon army. I lik the Seraphon army so much more hahaha. But why is seraphon not top tier in tournament? because as i can see it has great potantial or am i wrong. I live in heerenveen in the netherlands. Are there more members from NL? Hope to see some responses and discussions . Nice website
Welcome! Yeah, there are a few guys from the Netherlands active here IIRC. As for Seraphon strength: IMO we are not top tier because of a few things: - limited magic capability since we don't have spell lore (very old Battletome) - some old and therefore a bit underpowered warscrolls - we lack sources for mortal wounds and/or defense against them. The top tier armies are good in throwing those around.
Welcome to the forums! As mentioned above, the short answer to why we are not in the top tier is that we are vulnerable to mortal wounds. We are pretty strong in AoS against armies without a lot of mortal wounds. We do have the advantage of having the best army specific Warhammer forum that ever was or ever will be (perhaps I am a bit biased). Let us know if you have any other specific questions about gameplay, painting, fluff, or anything else!
yeah, our warscrolls are terribly outdated. We don't have anything that is vaguely in the same league of the new ones, so we must learn to cohordinate our efforts. Always. Our amy MUST work like an orchestra, and this leaves us with no margins of error… unless your opponent makes mistake.
To further insist on what has been said, I'll bring a real game example. A Slann costs 260 pts. Casts 3 spells OR summons. 7 wounds, save 4+ A Verminlord Warpseer costs 260 pts. Casts 2 spells (one of them for d6 MW and halves move), it's a combat monster that comes with 12 pts, a save 4+ rerollable and feel no pain 5+. 40 skinks cost 240 pts. 40 plague monks cost 240 pts. They do 120 Attacks that hit at 4+ rerollable, each 6 at a rend -1, and and each 6 to wound does double damage. they can do mortal wounds to a nearby unit and can do mortal wounds when killed in cc. And this by themselves, naked, without any external support, and without loss of bonuses when reduced in numbers. an army with this kind of power, even if severely crippled by an Alpha strike, can still play the game and win, simply because their units are much more powerful then ours. This is the kind of handicap we're currently playing with. Summons + LoSaT just mitigate this… and it's not a surprise that our 2 strongest tools were introduced with the GHB (and so they are on par with the new releases)
Hi there Patrick, Welcome aboard. I am also from the Netherlands, live near Rotterdam tho... So not that nearby. Have fun around here en keep posting Gr, Imrahil
I'm also a new player located in NL but I live near Eindhoven so we couldn't have been a lot further apart :/
