Many years ago, I started painting Lizardmen. I sold that army, when everyone else i knew played 40k instead. But I have always wanted to return to my lizards, and frustration with 8th edition eventually led my friends and I to AoS - So finally I get to paint and play with my lizards!

Things are only just starting out, so I haven't done a lot yet. But I am having an absolute blast so far, with painting something that isn't bristling with guns and/or wearing power armour. I have previously painted a Space Marine army, Necron army and a Custodes army.

Always was a firm believer in the "less is more" approach to basing, but I also like to challenge myself a bit with every new army I start. So I'm going for a swampy-jungly-planty thing.

So far, I'm liking the look of it. It doesn't really show in any of the pictures, but I've put a bunch of gold tablets from my bitz box on there too, so support that old Lustrian feel - Gold is there for the taking, if you don't get stabbed by crazy murder reptiles.

He has since been based in the same manner as the rest of them. Overall I'm pretty happy with it all, but I will probably revisit the priests feathers at some point. They didn't turn out too great.

Lizards are just as much fun now, as they were 10 years ago.

Right, a batch of Saurus done, and an Oldblood too!

So far I've played him as a Sunblood - That seems more useful.

I can't help but be a little amused by these guys. Many years ago, they were what attracted me to the Lizardmen. Now, I consider them one of the weakest sculpts of the entire army. A bit of a shame really, but they just appear so tiny now. Especially next to Steroidosaurus Rex, who really does embody the feeling of saurian rage. These little guys not so much. Oh well.

Next up is the Carnosaur, that has disappointed for three games in a row. But the model is just too damned amazing not to paint, so I'm looking forward to it all the same ^^

Nice work, eye-popping unit if you ask me.
Amazed by the Oldblood, nice work on the horns and nails ;)

Is it a unit without shields? or do you paint those separately?

    Thanks guys ^^

I plan to paint the shields for the saurus and the skinks together at some point. They look like they would get in the way, if put on during the initial assembly, so this seems easier :)

Still working on the Carnosaur. Hit a bit of a snag on the skin - Drybrushing isn't producing the results I wanted, so i'll have to do it differently. But that's good. I'm having a ton of fun painting organic material, rather than power armour. Nice and different challenge :)

A comparison to boxart is always extremely flattering ^^ I'm not very creative when it comes to coming up with my own schemes, so It's nice to hear it looks like what it's supposed too :)

    20190313_205422.jpg 20190313_205443.jpg

Obviously it still needs basing and the Oldblood, but it's coming along nicely :) I made a ton of mistakes this time around - Tried drybrushing for the most part, but I did not care for the look at all. So I went back in, and did a bunch of stuff the old fashioned way. Learned a lot, that I'm looking forward to taking with me for the next big dino that comes along.

Kroq-Gar and Grymloq were my favorite characters back in the day; and I was very sad to hear that they had both croaked during the end times. I did manage to find a picture of my old carnosaur model, before I sold it all and started up on 40k. 20140818_195226.jpg

I feel like I've come a long way since then. But I remember I was extremely proud of it at the time. It's great to look back at your old stuff, sometimes. :)

    Looking fantastic! Brilliant job!
The fluff behind the Seraphon is such that in the case of many of them, they are the Slann’s memories become real, and can be brought back at any point. So as long as there’s a Slann in your personal canon who’s willing to remember one of the most badass characters around, Kroq-Gar and Grymloq can be as alive as ever and are here to stay!

Kroq-Gar and Grymloq live again, it seems!

I was pretty intimidated by the horns on the saddle. My hands have always been a little shaky, so any kind of freehanding leaves me a little uncomfortable. But I really like the look of it, in the end.

With this addition, the collection is really starting to look like a small army - Always a great spot to reach, when just starting out on a project. Now I just need to figure out what to paint next. Still debating whether it should be Kroxigor, Slaan or a Bastiladon.

Ended up doing the Kroxigor next - A friend of mine loves the models, and he had been begging me to get them painted for a game ASAP. Didn't want to disappoint, so to the brushes I went!

The third guy was missing a claw on his foot when I got him, so I had to get a little creative. Now I wince a litte everytime I see it. That looks painful to me.

It was a bit of a mixed bag working with resin again. Been awhile since I did it last (The Custodes are, thankfully, all plastic), and I've got to say I haven't missed the amount of cleaning it takes. Between the scrubbing, the scraping and the filling, I feel like it just takes too damned long to put three figures together, that aren't even a complicated assembly. Things just get warped and need fixing. I don't mind a difficult assembly, but I get annoyed with a broken one. But harping on finecast is hardly anything new, so I'll drop it now :p

The army is starting to come together, and It's starting to be a joy to look at it in the cabinet. Next up I think is the Bastiladon, but I'll sleep on that and see where I end up :)

Fantastic painting progression! You have some great stuff here, classically painted lizardmen! They could all be straight out of the army book :artist:

Thanks a lot :) I'm very fond of the classical scheme, so comparing it to the army book is just about the highest praise I could hope for. :)

Painting these dinosaurs are a real pleasure. Going to be a little busy for the remainder of the week, so I probably won't be able to really pick up my brushes again until sometime sunday. Plenty of time to think of what's next up, though! I foresee a Slaan, but I do have a D'n'D miniature I need to get painted up for a friend too. I have a hard time getting motivated for that, while i'm having this much fun with the dinos though :)

Also, I'd like to really thank @Itepixcauh at this point. My first attempts at painting skinks came out way too dark, and finding your blog and the tutorial you made for their skin in there, really helped to get me started. Thanks for that, I really appreciate you sharing your talent with the rest of us :)
