Hey all, I've been playing for a while and understand seraphon pretty well, but I can't seem to find a way to beat skaven. They always have model count for objectives and I cant seem to get their numbers down. What is a good strategy to beat them?
Ripperdactyls, Razordons, and Bastiladons are all very effective vs Skaven. Which clan of Skaven are giving you the most trouble. The target priorities changes based on what you are fighting. Also, camp their Gnawholes.
In my experience, their hordes are easily stopped by skinks. Gnawholes can be easily denied by LoSaT. Their shooting can be painful, but shadowstrike or LoSaT may help a bit. The problem is skaven just have a lot of cheap wounds and easy access to battleshock immunity, and seraphon just don't have enough damage to remove them in time. I'd like to try 2-3 stegadons with flamers, screened by skinks, incinerating plague monk stacks. If I only had any...
I have won all my games vs Skaven so far. I have been using the DT/SS and Shadowstrike with 2 EotGs list. Both of which are posted in my signature thread.
Stegadon with flamethrowers seems like a decent idea if it's purely the bodies giving you trouble. Could you give some more examples of what happens so we can see what kinda advice would be best?
Usually skaventide, clans pestilence. I just can't get the horde numbers down and they camp objectives. Battle shock seems to not effect them. And they always have the bell which I can't focus down. Maybe my target priority isn't good for then.
You just need a high volume of attack to deal with these units. Rippers and Razordons are fantastic for thinning down the numbers on Clanrats.
And Bastilodons.... 2d6 shots at 20" and -1/2D will chew through clanrats. and if they bring anything to back them up... that damage goes to 3 against chaos demons
Bastiladons are a bit unreliable and need at least Astrolith bearer to be effective, while Stegadons can give rerolls 1's to hit to themselves. But I think, thunderquke is great against rats. Low-save hordes should melt under rerollable hit and wound from bastiladons, while skinks hinder their movement. If two basties charge a single stack from different sides, it will take quite a bit for rats to chew through them.
