So, I know about the classic Cogs + balewind combo to spam up as many points as possible. And I've read that just filling the board in with skinks is our strongest tactic... But now I wonder, what do you guys summon? Why?

How many turns ahead do you plan to summon what thing?

Which dinos do you keep just for summoning?

What spells are worth 3 less points per turn?

I've been going with my gut and using available models so far... Haven't gone crazy with cogs and vortex yet... But maybe next game.

If anyone has any tips, strategies, advice, or just random shit you think is cool on the topic, I'd love to hear it.

    Not more than two usually.

    Troglodon, Terradons.

    Not many unfortunately.
Maybe one or two of our new ones from the spell lore, and a few endless spells.

Most of the time I summon Skinks or Terradons. Sometimes a Troggy.

So far for me, I use a shadowstrike list.

I tend to use Cogs + Balewind to stack points, a lot. And I use them to summon different thing. In my opinion it's really depend of the situations.

Skinks are good to grab an objective or block some enemies.
I tend to use them for big dinos, like a bastiladons or an EoG.

So it seems like it's safe for me to make a list with minimal big dinos, so long as it summons well, so I can pop a few big threats out.

More like, I need tools for positioning and defense on the table, because I have nearly endless offense, situationaly avaliable. And it's not so much, what to summon... As it is, summoning what you need right then. So I can't have a sheet full of if then statements to help me narrow the choices. I have to make the live in response to the game.

    What are the opening strategies?

Should one horde points turns 1 and 2? Do you just horde points every turn? How often are you summoning units? Every turn? Every other turn? 5 extra units over the game is a bunch more than 3, know what I mean?

This depends on the battleplan. Sometime I will summon Chameleon Skinks turn one with the anticipation of winning with them on turn 4. In most cases I am considering objective control 3-4 turns in advance. Or at least how I intend to be holding those objectives in the future turns. This is what informs my summoning.

I summon Skinks, Ripperdactyls, Chameleon Skinks, Bastiladons, EotGs, & Saurus Warriors the most and in that order.

This is very condition dependent. If your Slann is in danger than you want to dump your CCP every turn so you aren't let left with unspent points. If you are winning the objectives and your Slann is safe then you can sit back and horde your CCP so that you can use it more flexibly in future turns.

I appreciate the advice, as I'm going to hit the store today, and I'm trying to decide on which singe box to get as summoning support? do I get another start collecting... And make the trogladon I've got into my main summon monster? Or, do I get the ripperdactyls I don't yet have?

I have some skinks, so... Check. I plan to order some chameleon skinks, and bastilladon is webstore only. So really it comes down to this question for me:

Do I get a box of ripperdactyls to summon? Or do I get a start collecting, use the scar vet on carnosaur I don't yet have, and summon the skinks I already have?

Start collecting can make a skink priest, is this guy worth taking?

I love Ripperdactys. I recommend owning at least 6 to all Seraphon players.

As of the point changes with the new GHB, I will try to incorporate the cheaper units into my army list, e.g. guards, troglodon, warriors. And the units which got more expensive will be summoned e.g. Skinks (love 'em little objective grabbers), EotG, etc. I love the idea that 40 warriors could be worth their 330 points now, or that I can take more guards, so they won' t immediately be smoked by mortal wounds.

OK, this thread was made for the GHB2018, but all in all it's still valid.

Hope you'll find useful advices. ;)
