Hey guys, I haven't been on the site for a long time and I am struggling to get back into the hobby. I still really love Lizardmen and their lore but just haven't been motivated to paint, and whenever I do I usually find that one of the paints I need is tried up and so I stop or I just can't seem to carry on or something else pops up. I'm not asking for much but do you guys have any words of advice?

    Kitbash?
try to model something unique, at that point you should probably be excited to finish it.

    idk… Lord Mazdamundi?
or mix between armies. or little dioramas.
I believe uniqueness could be the key to find the motivation.

Just some examples with lord Kroak.
With the right idea and the ability to do it, that should suffice. I hope. :)

Sounds like a problem that props up from every hobby and just about from anyone. I'm not a painter, so i'm not sure if i'll be helpful.

Anyway, i would suggest taking a brake from painting and doing something else completely different. At the same time, i would also suggest looking at other peoples' painting blogs, looking at their progress, and even giving critique and advice.

The former gives you time to overcome hobby burnout, and the latter gives you inspiration from other peoples' paintings.

I usually do this whenever i get tired from writing. Just do something else different and then read other works peoples' works at the same time.

To me it helps to really want to play the model.
My buddy and I only play with painted models (house rule), it works well for us.

Motivation is a bit difficult to start up but once it gets going it keeps on going. Try looking at some cool models and watch some stuff on warhammer and you will probably want to start playing and painting again. Hopefully something works out and you have some fun again

I personally find it helps to imagine what everything looks like in your minds eye once fully painted in your desired colours. Having your collection -models you don't even own yet, but looking forward to building - all there in their fully grouped and dynamic glory.

I've seen many posts for the people of this community whom have achieved that or are close to doing so. It doesn't matter how much of a pro or inexperienced you are. I tell myself one day I'll be able to bring all of that to a tabletop. Doesn't matter how good or bad it plays, it will just look and feel great.

Dinosaurs man... dinosaurs noming and mashing everything in sight.

It's all about saying "you did it"....that "get and paint an entire army" bucket-list-like goal that has always been there since the first time you walked in to your first GW before you even hit your teens.

Anyway....that's enough rambling from myself xD

Thanks for all the great advice guys, it's really helpful. After a while I decided to go down to GW and Get some more paints and a pack of the new sylvaneth wyld wood, I think they would make great jungle tree's after a bit of editing. :D I have also started painting up some skinks.

My desk was just a huge mess a day before, I have cleared up a small space and looking to get back to doing what I love :p
