As a few of you know I stopped doing the hobby for a few months, Now I'm back and I'm going to be here for a long time so without further ado:
These are some of my models from before. I'm not going to lie. I don't like the skinks and think the paint is way to think and a bit messy, but the bases are nice:

I am taking a lot of inspiration from total war Warhammer two and all of its lizardmen models and plan to almost use that as a base for my paint scheme from now on:

I tried the Total War scheme on Skinks and quickly backed off from this idea, but on a larger models it might work well. Reason is the colors are coming from nicely blending scale textures and bruises which is too much detail to put on really small model such as the Skink one. In the end I did something much simpler, but maintained more or less the colors.
I eagerly await to see your approach to the problem though! :)

Bases are beautiful. May I ask what do you use for the swamp water effect? I'm looking for something similar for my cold ones/saurus knights.

Thanks! Yea, I do see how the skinks could be really difficult to pull off as they are so detailed with lots of different textures.

I use AK interactive swamp water gel, It comes In a Very large container for small models and is a tiny bit hard to get a nice smooth effect. but other than that it is pretty good for getting the general effect of swampy/dirty water - https://ak-interactive.com/product/water-gel-swamp-green-250ml This is the website that sells it. You can probably find it for cheaper elsewhere though :)

Cost is not bad in Poland for that. I will definitely think of buying that when I start basing the knights ;) Thanks!

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words. I know this thread has been a bit inactive but I’m back into painting and miniatures now for the long run. I have began work on a jungle themed tree from the recently released sylvaneth wildwood. I have done just one half as a almost plan for the other 3 trees. I’m going to be using this tree in small diorama that I’m making.

As always advice and ways to improve is highly valued. (Sorry for my messy and cluttered desk in the background)

Hey, a quick update, I have finished the tree and have started to lay the foundations of a new diorama.

    CDDCE8C3-EB61-40BD-B101-9067CF0DC63C.jpeg 6AA129D8-1111-4773-AB59-18773619F1CC.jpeg F36F792F-D09F-4D0C-94E7-644D2474C4FF.jpeg
I plan to have 3-4 skinks running past the tree, but I have more plans than that ;):).

Hey guys, A quick update - I have been working on the terrain ALOT. I keep on feeling the need to smooth things out, add more, take some away. But now I think I have got the shape and have moved on to adding some rocks along with some basic foliage.

    EF55A5A5-A687-4CC2-A0AA-5788AF064016.jpeg 34EB6EBC-7657-4ED5-86D7-8DC9023302B5.jpeg 9BA145B5-E535-42B9-B909-3B9DB3926690.jpeg

Next, I will be able to start adding some smaller details such as skulls as well as adding the more 3D Ferns and vines.

An update, after some thinking I have added a rock for the leader of the cohort to stand on, this will give him some more hight and allow him to stand out alot more, I also made the path alot more cluttered and gave the whole thing an overgrown jungle vibe as well as glazing the floor to make it look moist and wet. In the picture, you can see the many mushrooms that haven't been painted yet so that is what I will be working on next :D
    EC083E4A-9077-4AE2-8A4A-89F4EAF5D381.jpeg 9934DD21-D12A-41E7-8739-100251E7270D.jpeg E49744F8-93A7-43DF-926D-2CAA916DB23F.jpeg

Its starting to come together alot now, all I need is the skinks and the canopy on top along with the mushrooms.

I love your work, real jungle-ly vibe.
I am missing all the tiny crawling and flying creatures ;)
