Haha, a thread like the ‘Ole Grumblers’ Fireplace’ on Bugman’s Brewery! Just watch me fill up this thread with grudges to be entered into the Dammaz Kron (and this will actually help me keep them from derailing other threads - thanks for doing this @Erta Wanderer!)

Yeah look at that Slann, even he had a smile on his face.

Back in our days our Slann was thin and full of youth, all our units looked the same AND WE LIKED IT!

And he had to be carried, now all his grumpyness keeps his chair afloat.

If I only were a Boomer, then I had more disposable income for more minis and a house with enough space for even more minis!

Yeah you do have a good point there...

Good news for me though is that my parents give me miniatures I haven’t even earned!

I wasn’t even alive back then, so what was fantasy like?

    Blocky and stiff, lol.

To be honest, I never had a chance to play fantasy. I was young, and no one around played it. I bought models and built them, but always ended up imagining playing. I had the books and time, but no one else was interested....

I remember when fantasy was fantasy, orcs, lizardmen, skeletons, elves, dwarves. Not these fabricated names and races by GW : Seraphon, orruks, nighthaunts etc.

Well, depends on your tastes. Fantasy was more about maneuvering than AoS is. You had flank attacks, rear attacks, could only shoot in the direction you were facing, all sorts of interesting movement and facing rules. Regiments had a physical presence you just don't get with the all-skirmish formation life that is AoS. Cannonballs bounced and smashed through ranks by AIMING them, catapults did the same and could scatter off-target and hit your own troops...

It was chaotic, had too many rules to remember, and cumbersome, but it was SO MUCH FREAKING FUN!!! :D

Sure was. I had chaos dwarves. The death rocket was likely to go anywhere. Across the table, land and spin and fire off again, maybe hitting the enemy, maybe a unit of your own.
Orcs would stand around fighting each other.
    Trolls too stupid to move.
Some armies you deliberately took for the FUN aspect knowing that if you won a game, it was probably down to your opponents failing dice

I like much more the new model.
    But it must be metal.

Also the steam tank. . Who wants Plastic? Metal is the way for such a war engine! I want to feel the weight

Ah yes, the good old WHFB, where a summoned demon could mass route a complete flank of units. Artillery had to be aimed, big units could be overrun just because of one shitty close combat round and failing their morale check.
Where 5th edition was just one big warlord slaughtering everything on the field, with a few friends cheering him on or going over to 6th edition where said warlord needed all of his friends because suddenly he wasn't that strong anymore, old age I guess.
It was cumbersome, it had too many rules but I loved it very much!

    Also,

Lord Kroak is the original Boomer, because he is old and makes things go boom, change my mind!

The changes from 6th edition to 7th edition to 8th edition were relatively small. Many of the 7th edition tacticas could be copied and pasted to 8th edition with very small tweaks.

I was and am disappointed that Age of Sigmar is so different that the Tactica Index I lovingly constructed is only good for Oldhammer now.

Perhaps it will see new use when The Olde WorldeTM returns to the table?
