That's the face of someone who commits unnecessary actions for the sake of making other players miserable, and a very punch-able face at that.

I repeat: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU WANT REPEAT GAMES OR AN UNBLEMISHED FACE, FOR NUFFLE'S SAKE!

It's even up there with using Mighty Blow to turn a Stunty Casualty (auto back next game) into a lasting injury. Nothing gained from doing so, apart from the ire of your opponents.

That's not to say that dice don't happen, but malice is an active choice.

That is also the face of the a-hole - nay, the 100% a dick - who managed to get an early enough lead that he isn't even playing to score touchdowns, he's just killing time by deliberately trying to see if he can put your entire team into the ground.

Fortunately, I have not had the misfortune of playing that opponent, but a friend DID. And he looked utterly done with life before the half-time.

It was either his first game. Or his second.

    Exactly that.

    Debatable.
At least in 40k, the ITC / WTC players (which may be the minority but are not a small part of the community) are not that interested in a well balanced game.
    and
in both fantasy and 40k, the changes (especially the various points adjustments) are always anticipated and discussed with excitement by the community, including LO. Plus, as much as it's indeed annoying the continue "refresh", i don't miss the days when your awful armybook was stuck with its rules / points for multiple editions.

It might be kind of a generalisation, but MESBG being most off the same since 2012 untill the last change with the War of the Rohirrim was kind alsof a good thing. Especially now that certain models are not longer able to play.

I think it comes down to the difference between tweaks and adjustments versus "It's been four years, here's a big honking new edition which can change enough to feel almost like a new game, oh and your models might get Thanos snapped from the battletomes".

I have no issue with the former. I loathe the latter. Especially since it inherently means that certain factions won't get to enjoy their full rules for as long as certain others. Especially if a local scene is of the "we only play the LATEST rules" mindset.#

On the upside, I definitely prefer that once a player has their models, it isn't so important to get new releases... unlike a certain popular card game made by a bunch of wizards getting their tan lines on the coast.

Functionally, GW doesn't know their own audience very well. Sure, their IPs are mainstream these days, but by and large, wargaming as a hobby is a niche that really only attracts a certain clientele who stand apart from the general public: the kind of people who, when given something new, can and will hyper-fixate on it to exhaustion. These are the kind of people who like difficult puzzles, the ability to test a system to its breaking point, and to come up with novel ways to play the game that its creators didn't anticipate.

In other words, these are the kinds of people you need to give a complex game system to in order to stave off boredom long enough for them to keep coming back for more. Otherwise, they're prone to losing interest and going off to find something else that's more worth their time and energy.

Unfortunately, this is a reality that GW either forgets or is unwilling to acknowledge when making corporate decisions that affect their games. "Simplified, not simple" indeed.

And that's before any talk about their "You can only play with what's in the box" and "if we don't sell the models, you don't get rules" policies.
