How many spells are there? Which is the best?

Is that to keep the TV under control? Fourteen providing enough spare bodies to last the game. Does the number of the players on your roster depend on the squishiness of the team? Would a Skaven team keep more players on hand than a Chaos, Tomb King or Dwarf team?

What about a team like Snotlings, would they roster more players in order to have sufficient replacement players to make use of their swarming rule?

I would keep it to 14 so you can induce up to 2 star players. Especially snotlings. Once you're at 16 you can take no more players (with the exception of riotous rookies), even star players.

This is in addition, meaning you can have up to three apothecaries available to you over the course of the game if you also take the ordinary one.
Whichever you feel is more pressing. My group tends to view journeymen as convenient scrimmage fodder or fall guys for fouls, and we don't tend to play with star players anyway, so for us it's a no-brainer to include them if we have the inducement cash left over to do so, be it when we don't have a full roster or have people missing that game.

There's also the fact that, especially when a league is starting, you won't have sufficient difference in TV between teams to be able to afford star players as inducements. It's also been my experience that, by the time there is such a gap, the other team is likely already leagues ahead of you in its ability to win games to the point where you having a star player or two won't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Which of those spells do you like the best, worst and why? Or is it the case of them being roughly equal in value but each having specific situational uses?

So team development through player progression trumps the impact of Star Players and/or other inducements? Even in the case of really potent cases such a Griff, Morg, Ripper, Jordell, Hakflem or the like?

The spell is situational, if it's a higher strength ball carrier in a cage, then using the fireball is basically hitting them with a mighty blow bomb. A low strength carrier gets turned into a frog very easily and then squished.

Stunty teams will almost always have low enough TV to get a few stars in at the beginning of the league, and towards the end of the league if they have a highly specialized team, one Griff may not make enough of an impact, that being said, you're likely going more for a Morg or weapons, in order to take out those levelled up menaces. Every league is different, so if you're inducing Nobbla, a blodging chainsaw, you can take out the opponents legendary player(s) fairly easily and even up the odds. It's a matter of learning what to look for in the opposition roster. Some leagues even have a bounty system, where someone hates your Wardancer and offers up gold from their treasury to whomever can take the Wardancer out. Or whichever positional got them spending money on bounties.

It very much can, even for Stunty teams. Star players have their niche, but a good team (no matter the tier) is always going to be one that not only has specialized players but also redundancy in its lineup, even if at least some of that has to be through getting SPP. As mentioned previously, Star Players can't earn SPP.

That is so deliciously fun. Pure Blood Bowl mayhem!

Morg looks beastly. Not many holes in his game.

Which is probably a good thing in terms of balance. I'd guess that they would get out of hand real fast.

Congratulations! Looks like a great gift, you'll need to be patient with the pump wagons, they're notoriously difficult to build, but they will be worth it.

Thanks @Bowser . I'm VERY happy with it!

I've heard some horror stories about the pump wagon. I guess we'll see how it goes. It might just have to start myself a painting blog (probably the world's slowest painting blog, but still a step in the right direction).

    Hope Santa treated you well.

Good luck, can't wait to see your progress! Tomb Kings and Brets should be fun as well. And you got Ripper, so you're pretty much set.

We (as gaming group) have some Blood Bowl players, so we buyed the 3rd edition box: in this way we'll have something for any new player interested in it.

Thank you. It's nice to finally get in on the game.

I really wish Games Workshop produced a third Blood Bowl troll model. When I'm not fielding Ripper himself, I can use him as an ordinary troll. If I do field him as Ripper I'll need some sort of Troll substitute. Maybe the mushroom token marker that comes with the kit; at least for now. Not that I have any games on the horizon anyways.

That's exciting. Now that you guys have the kit, are you going to give the game a try?

    :sorry::sorry:

They used to have another troll, as recent as last year, must have gone out of production, I would use the snotling troll markers, and if you play AOS you can always get the rockgut or fell water troggoths. Then you'll have a variety of trolls to use.

Oh, some of my friends already play it.
As president of our gaming association (we're 140), i'm gonna promote it to newcomers.
    It's just that i don't think i'll ever play it. :p
