For an upcoming tourney, could use some feedback here. Last couple of games that I've tried have ended... well, badly. I take slann and temple guard, and pretty much they always die. I don't have much experience so... ??? This list happen. Also skinks because maybe I have too many saurus. Lord Oldblood Cowboy GW, Glittering Scales, 4++ Ward,Egg Heroes Scar-Vet Cowboy GW, LA, Gambler's, Dawnstone, BSB Skink Priest Heavens w/Cube Skink Priest Beasts Lvl 2 w/Dispell Core 12 Skirmishers 12 Skirmishers 12 Skirmishers 11 Skirmishers 25 Saurus Full command w/hand Special CoC x 5 w/Full Command Stegadon w/ sharpened horns Bastiladon w/ Solar Engine 25 Temple Guard 3 Terradons Rare Salamander w/ extra handler Salamander w/ extra handler
The list generally seems ok to me (though I might argue for Terradons over Rippers). But there is an exception that sticks out to me - that would be the gear on both your Oldblood and Scar Vet. Here's a really good thread on optimal Cowboy builds: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/a-cowboy-for-all.12879/ In general, remember that 'Cowboy' represents a Scar Vet or Oldblood on a Cold one. With no extra gear, those guys start with a 3+ and 2+ armor save, respectively. For your Oldblood, you've given him 3 extra points of armor (unless I've misread you, and he's not on a Cold One). Also, I really don't value the Sword of Swift Slaying on him, but perhaps that's personal preference. You'd generally be better off either taking the Piranha blade (a personal favorite) or giving him just about any other weapon that adds Attacks or Strength. It isn't clear if your Scar Vet is the BSB - I'd recommend taking that upgrade - to re-roll your failed stupidity tests if nothing else! As one final thought - since you are taking Temple Guard anyway - why not spend a few points for a magic banner? There are many good cheap ones (+1 Movement, re-roll first failed LD, Flaming Attacks), and some powerful ones that cost a bit (Razor Standard for instance) - use that flexibility they provide!
Ojh! I hadn't seen that thread thank you, I'll look it over. Swift slaying is really because, well, there are several Elf players and I'm probably going to go against one of them. And beastmen. I guess the re-rolling to hit attacks really scares me. And I've had bad experiences with everything hitting before I can even attack. I'll tweak their stuff and see if I have enough points then for a banner for the temple guard.
I'd rather beast be the level 2 mage, wild form and others are high casting and argueably more important. 30 saurus is kinda a min for me, might be worth dropping one unit of skink skirmishers 7 is kinda the min for COR
@Eladimir Sadly, the most CoC that I could do is 6, because I only have 8 models and the two cowboys are taking up two of them. Switched the beast and heavens skink. Downgraded the Rippers to terradons in order to afford the new builds for the Cowboys and the BSB.
