This topic pops up every once in a while with promises of later this year etc. The year is coming to an end and if we'r having another contest this year then it has to be soon! The contest itself doesn't have to be that advanced or technical. I'd like to see more incentive for new members of the site to make an entry. So I have some ideas to get this going. I'll quote some of the rules from the previous contest and some changes that I'd like to see. CATEGORIES Unlike last time I'd like to try only having one "category" but multiple judging criteria ins instead. Examples of these criteria (that I would like to call categories) could be something like this: Best painting Best convertion Best first time entry Best basing Best diorama Best overall Everyone making an entry would then only making one entry with a chance of winning all of the categories, except for the first time entry which can only be won by a newcome to lustria-online painting competitions. Hopefully this will encourage more new people to enter the competition. Also the previous contest had it's entires spread thin over several categories which this model avoids. Each category would have a gold/silver/bronze medal with every entry having a chance at each category. More criterias are welcome should anyone have a good idea. CONTEST RULES Please be sure you read through them fully. 1. This contest is open to any and all who would like to enter, so long as they adhere to the required theme. 2. Entrants may use models from different armies or manufacturers, so long as the model is easily identified to fit the theme. 3. Entrants may use INFANTRY models from different armies to enhance their entry, so long as it is clear that the main emphasis is on models that fit the theme. 4. Entries MUST be submitted with a title. If no title is given, the entry will be named by X (and X won't be nice...) 5. Only ONE entry per person. 6. Each entry MUST consist of ONE to TEN models (no more no less)? 5. NO MORE than 5 images per entry? 6. Photo-editing will grant you an immediate disqualification. You MAY however adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, size or other relevant adjustments. Questionable photos will be reviewed by the judges. IF YOU ADJUST YOUR PHOTO it is highly recommended that you keep an original copy of the image, just in case there is any concern to it's authenticity. VOTING TBT Dunno if pre-determined judges is the best or if we just make a poll where every lustrian can vote. OTHER THINGS TO DETERMINE The contest needs a theme! One idea is to do a Saurus theme since the previous one was a skink theme. Another idea would be a Lords & Heroes theme to celebrate the new rule changes (for better or worse) and get our new Lord and Hero minis painted! The contest needs a time frame! Both or painting and for people to get their minis in case they need to order them etc. Some planning is needed! What do you guys think? Should we make this a reality this year or is that too ambitious a goal?
Is this supposed to end in a question or is the "no more no less" still up in the air? Also, the numbers start going down after "6." I assume this means you can't use a model you've already painted?
I need to paint models for an escalation league anyways, and hey BOTH well, all is probably more fitting (as i have 3) of my slann could need a new layer of paint, though the newest one definetely need a new layer, and his throne is far from done. I also have a tetto, and a kroak, several stegadons, a bastiladon, skinks, salamanders... the only PAINTED thing is Razordons! let's just let me put it like that (and their bases aren't done I'd love a new contest, sadly, both a camera and photo-taking skills are lacking
Yes, this is a proposal. Last contest had a 10 model max per entry. While I'm not quite sure why it seems legit to compare a smaller number of models rahter than for example comparing a scar veteran vs 40 skirmishers. The last contest had a limit to models painted within the last six months. I'd say it would be fair to have the same limit here, although most entries last time were freshly painted models as far as I remember. I don't see any reason to not allow models a few months old. The more entries the merrier! There seems to be some interest which is nice! I'm gonna be slightly busy until the end of the week. I might just pull this together if one of the old dogs around here don't beat me to it. Might need some help though so if any kind X is interested just post it here or something. We'll figure it all out by Sunday/Monday!
I am working on some conversion stuff atm so would be interested in painting it and entering it in the competition.
