    Hi guys

We'll release a 0.99.4 update tomorrow. The reason to not have a full 1.0 right now is to fix any errors (grammar, rules, etc) before the actual release. So tomorrow will be the final rules for all.
The next rules update will be post ETC (September).

He is saying that the 1.0 rules will be released as 0.99.4 so that after everyone has a look at them and they find all the grammar errors etc they can make the changes and have an official 1.0 release without having to worry about having a 1.0.1 and so on.

Very excited to see the release for all my armies.

Yeah exactly. We want to avoid a 1.0.1 version. So 0.99.4 is basically a public pre release, which includes updates to the rules. This is to allow people to help us find the various grammar mistakes, so the actual 1.0 release will not include any rule changes.

Looks ok to me on first glance. Still not happy with the halberd only on the templeguard. But otherwise it seems fine.
But had great success with 10 Kr... Caimans on my last turnament. My new templeguard substitution :)

Yeah I have to say that Caimen are the new staple unit of SA. I always include a unit of at least 6 with FC and Halberds. They always tend to work well for me.

I think the update moved solidly forward towards an SA army that I would really like to play. I'm sure that it is easier for most to focus on what hasn't been fixed, but I think if we can maintain a unified army presence we can eventually get the best lizardy army any of us have ever played with.

for me the following are my highest wish lists:
saurian characters with totems and synergy with units
extra core unit (please stop the people who tell me swarms are a core option, I hate that and it isn't a unit I like fielding just from a model and fluff perspective)
temple guard properly costed against other elite troops of similar stats, with totem options.
raptor riders somehow streamlined to a more specific role and costed properly.

and this list is a lot smaller than what it was, I see the above as very doable in the next year, and yes there are other wants I have like an actual useful caiman character. But overall I'm glad to see a lot of positive change going on, good job 9th age SA team.

I know it can be extremely frustrating hearing a lot of hate following all the hard work you have put in. But take it with a grain of salt and know that as a community we are behind you, sometimes we just need to vent and sulk in our room for a while.

I can't post on 9th forum from my phone so that is why I haven't been in any threads, I'm going to start posting here in place of that. Anyone can quote me on 9th if you want my posts there.

For core I hope the following:
    • Break up Skrox as a seperate unit entry ie. A unit where you're forced to have Caimans with your skinks (so minimum price of 150 for 10 skinks and 1 caiman). Currently the unit entry for skink braves is somewhat clumsy
    • Give skink sky riders a raptor mount (this have previously been acceptable from the RT, but the old ABC didn't want such a solution).
      • Allow 1 unit of raptor skinks to be core for each skink chief mounted on a raptor
      • Why this shenanigan? Because we're not allowed to add a new unit anytime soon and this is the closest one could get. Besides we've seen a reduction in units with the merge of several units (hunter/camo, terradon/ripper and salamander/razordons).
To "fix" spears it would be great to do What the RT suggested:
Reduce A of saurian warriors to 1.
Add "shield bash" or "bite" which is resolved at model's strength.
    Reduce spear price to 1ppm

This way the front models would have 1A with spear and 1A that doesn't benefit from spear nor born predator.

As such the unit could perhaps see a slight reduction in price (entry price I'd guess).

The +1m totem should have a note about how any character that joins the unit also benefit from it.

These changes are imo small, but still substantial to make a difference. I prefer small changes to avoid issues with balance.

Yea I prefer smaller changes at start aswell. We don't want a repeat of the 0.99 situation eh :p

I like your (@Pinktaco ) suggestions for 1 bite attack or similar, since I don't believe spears are a valid option for now :)

A big old +1 for skinks on raptors, mainly for the modelling fun!

Also the idea of giving them 1A + an innate attack is a nice and tidy way of getting their weapons to behave in a better way without being too convoluted or having to change the BRB.
