Wow. I know several companies are backing the 9th Age, but I've always respected Avatars of War's models as being one of the best. I'd consider this a "big win" for support of the game system. Obviously all the hard work by all the volunteers on that project is raising more and more eyebrows; congratulations to all. Personally, I'm still an 8th Edition For Life man. Ideally, I'd have a definitive cleaning of the rules, FAQ, and points adjustment to optimize that edition; however that will never happen.
@hardyworld Have you looked at the 8.5 and 8.1 rules? (Basically a big rules clean up, and some very minor rebalancing) https://m.facebook.com/groups/14837...yNzQsInBvc2l0aW9uIjowLCJyZXN1bHRfdHlwZSI6Njl9 & https://m.facebook.com/groups/1483795728606274?view=permalink&id=1617920348527144&refid=18&_ft_=qid.6320140948995410815:mf_story_key.1617920348527144:tl_objid.1617920348527144
I have looked through both of those, thank you. I've also looked at unfinished/ongoing projects by other authors (Mathias Eliasson's Warhammer Armies Project, Furion's WFB: Reworked & Rebalanced, amongst others). All have a lot of good implementation to them, but none have established themselves as the definitive 'Final Version' of 8th Ed., and none will since T9A has gained most stubborn WHFB grognard's attention (but not this one's). Thread hijacking has ended! Proceed with excitement about The 9th Age's growth as planned.
I find personally 9th edition just as foreign to me as AoS, as both found the need to rename absolutely everything and radically change the traditional roles of most units.
Furion did have one single change that I absolutely love, in the Lizardmen Lore of High Magic... Not enough to get me to abandon 8th edition, but I really love this idea.
Regardsless of the opinion of T9A and other games I think it's amazing to see these minor and often freshly started miniature companies rising to take on the challenge. Both TMS https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tms-undying-dynasties-army-release and LTM https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lost-kingdom-miniatures-maghmorin-realm#/ are very new in the business and are already showing quite the promise. Next up from TMS will, to my knowledge, be a Bretonnia/Kingdom of Equitane (T9A) themed army, followed by a lizardmen/SA army. Shieldwolf Miniatures will be making a Forest Goblin army, which is quite awesome considering a certain company never really bothered making the actual units (except those on the giant spider thingy). From the perspective of T9A is quite exhilarating to see the support from new companies. On average 1 new company approaches us each week. We just got mailed last week and received a PM today from another. From the perspective of all wargaming fans this is great news! The smart companies would make sure that their miniatures would be compatible to as many games as possible, allowing people regardless of their favorite system to buy dolls. It's good to see that people will soon be able to buy tomb king miniatures once again
Always loved Avatar of War dwarfs, I may have to get some now to give them some business! Thanks for the links, the avatar of war lizardmen are amazing models, it would be crazy if they did an army of them.
If one, if not the best sculptor would like to make miniatures for the 9th age I would sertently not hold it agenst him or her
