Hello! just starting out looking into seraphon. been playing 40k for a few years now but wanting to get into something new. wanting to build seraphon but not quite sure where to go. I was thinking of buying two of the start collecting boxes a couple boxes of sauros guard and maybe a few bastildons as well. no idea if all this put together is any good though?

Welcome aboard! That's a great way to start. You have lots of conversion options here. I always suggest making the Oracle intoba starpriest and making at least one of your Knights into a scarvet on cold one. The bastiladon and guard are a great addition, and if you choose to make two carnosaurs instead of a Troglodon then you have quick access to a great bloodclaw starhost with a Bastiladon anvil and a priest and starpriest.

And to add to Bowser I will always recommend this conversion as a way to get maximum value from your boxes. It's something I'm planning on doing myself.

thx for all the suggestions, I do have questions about skinks. I was thinking about building army around sauros but I was wondering on how usefull skinks are? are they worth the investment or should I just stick to my sauros theme. also about slann should I bother with a normal one or even get one at all? should just grab old kroak himself and call it good?

For me personally I would buy Kroak and use him as either a regular stand in or as Kroak depending on the size of battle. $120 for two small models is a lot!

It depends on if your group allows proxies. If they do then just get Kroak and call him a slann when you need or use as Kroak. If they don't allow it then you may need to get both as they play very different roles. Skinks are quite useful as chaff, and can be quite a deadly force if you huild an army around them. A skink chief and a slann would make for a great start to a skink army if you want to buld around that. Kroxigor can come in as heavy hitters and just keep the shooting coming.

This is true, for me personally I would have an issue if you tried to use something lesser as a proxy for a named character because they are often quite significant in their look but if for points/financial cost you want to use them as their lesser version then I don't care, a downgrade is fine, upgrade not. But your mileage may vary.

that is true, used proxy's a few time myself in 40k. it's just really a matter of asking your opponent if they are ok with it.

    Welcome to the forums!

I look forward to seeing your models. Feel free to post 40K models too. Whatever your needs are, we got you covered.

Painting and converting. We got you covered. Tips and techniques, honest but polite critiques and models to inspire you. We got it.

Gameplay. We cover tactics, list building and battle reports for 8th Edition Warhammer, 9th Age Warhammer, Age of Sigmar Warhammer, and Kings of War.

We have fiction, aka fluff pieces. It's mostly 8th Edition/Age of Sigmar but we welcome all fluff. It doesn't have to be reptilian, it doesn't even need to be gaming.

And We got forums to talk about memes, Star Wars, and whatnot.
