    Welcome to the forums!
For me it was very nice to hear a Seraphon player (actually playing a pure Seraphon list) did quite well in a tournament.
Of course you always need a bit of luck, and our army isn't that strong in the meta right now, but you showed all those guys out there we are still there. Well done!

You did fantastic, great game to watch and it took a lot of finese to get where you did.

I tried the same list today actually against a very similar list, Kroak ate it on turn 2 dying to skyfire mortal wounds. Playing escalation wasn't the best scenario because deployment was so far, the dice messed up with a casting roll and he just flew over and shot me in the face at 24" range. Having a eternity warden is nice if the enemy are close enough to just nuke without the balewind and he can soak up wounds, dismount it and go from there maybe..

Try it out again but with a star priest, -1 to hit on kroak is nice and mystic shielded he's 2 plus save on the vortex. I took Tehenhauin because I've never seen him used, but now I know the kind of filth to expect on the high end of tournament play I'm going to be less inclined to care if my lists are filthy ha!
Sadly when he dismounts he's still over 2" from the Warden. I think a second Astrolith instead is better as Kroak's big aoe spell hits the entire board (but that is a little too much cheese for me).
Lots to think about, I'm really pleased people are digging the list and giving similar ones a go.
I'm sure with all our heads togetherwe can beat a Sky fire meta and keep things pure lizards!

Definitely for sure, my problem is dealing with mortal wounds though, they just eat him up so quick :(

Need a jade battlemage in there, would help some against those mortal wounds. And welcome aboard!

I was thinking that, but taking a lot of concentrated all at once during an enemys turn just did him in so quickly, all mortal wounds too. Getting the skinks to act as chaff is really important to not leave a lot of gaps...but skyfires with their fly :(

The minus 1 to hit kroak from the star priests spell stops the mortal wounds. The shamans should be dead from Kroak's spells so no plus 1 to hit. The sky fires shots no longer mortal wound on 6's ☺ . Try a priest mate, let me know how you get on. I think it's a no brainer

Definitely, didn't even think of that, having a dumb kroxigor moment there. I'll let you know how it goes soon, playing a mini tournament on Sunday :)

Don't forget to mystic shield kroak as well. He'll be saving on a 3 against the other shots. If you have a starseer, cast curse of fate on him. If you roll a 2 for a save it can be turned into a 3. Also handy to minus 1 to the battle shock he might have to make.
I kept kroak alive in a game where he'd taken 11 wounds. He was near inspiring terrain (look out for them when making your table side decision) and managed to roll a 1 which curse of fate allows you to reduce to 0.
    My opponents face was priceless

Ps: If you are super worried or your firsr turn hasn't killed the shamans, keep some rerolls back for saving or the battleshock test

I think if I was to play your style of list I would go super greedy with it, running everything you did plus an engine of the gods.

    Leaders
    Lord Kroak
    Saurus Astrolith Bearer
    Skink Starpriest
    Skink Starseer
    Engine of the Gods

    Battleline
    10 x Skinks
    10 x Skinks
    10 x Skinks

    Units
    6 x Ripperdactyl Riders
    1x Salamander

    Battalions
    Shadowstrike Starhost

    Scenery
    Balewind Vortex

It would give them a tough choice between Kroak or potential extra turns. And if Kroak died you could start using your starseer to manipulate the rolls to pump out mortal wounds.

Dude I have so many ideas and love the engines, especially with kroak and the Starseer. I'd summon the Salamander to reduce drops, more likely have the choice of who goes first that way. Plus you can get him in range first turn. Or keep him back to suddenly take an objective later on. 46 inch range summon distance is also pretty cool.

Try using curse fate on the engine and remember you can move it 2d6 before the game starts (he can count as the Shadowstrike priest so can benefit from the extra move before the game starts) that way you can either try and get an extra turn (it's more likely with curse of fate as you can plus 1 to one of the dice so only need 2 6's and a 5 rather than 3 6's) . If you miss out at least you have another shot at d6 mortal wounds that are now in range from the extra move, 25"+2d6 threat range which you can add one to it'll do between 2 and 7 mortal wounds!
You could get a really nice distance roll and he'll be able to charge alongside your glorious Ripperdactyls with plus 1 to the charge if needed from fate. That's quite a bit of pressure your opponent has to deal with ☺

If I'm teaching you to suck eggs, my apologies, I just love this style of list.

Using the engine as the Shadowstrike priest means you can drop the other guy (unless you want the -1 spell). But I love the all out plays so would opt for oxyotl as he can help clean up any characters left from Kroak's spells or finish off a weakened model/monster. If you don't mind mixing in other order stuff you could replace him with an assassin delivered by the rippers for more pressure.

By mixing in some other order stuff you can make a list worse than sky fire spam but that's another story..

Let me know if you get to use it, I'd appreciate any feedback

I believe so, look at his keywords. He has 'Skink Priest' in them ☺

That doesn't work for shadowstrike, used to work for skink cohort, but not anymore. It's no longer bolded in the warscroll.

My bad, I'm not sure what you mean by bolded in the warscroll as I don't play enough. I'm assuming that's a faq?

Yeah, it only counts as a keyword in a batallion if it is in bold. The shadowstrike are both named, so not keyword, and skink patrol the skink priest is no longer in bold, though if you have an old copy you can pay the 140 points to use the skink patrol and have the engine.
