I think the color scheme looks great and works really well! I like how you have the orange/brown color around the eyes. Nice work.
Very cool, Jorgik! They look like they are wearing Jaguar pelts! Some of the best color schemes come directly from nature!
I LOVE the way you painted your skinks. Each unit is the same, but it is also very different thanks to the minor colors you use. @Lorrec your work is inspiring!
Just finished off my test squad of Javelin/Shield Skinks this evening (save the bases). Might go over and add some shield patterns or some other personalisation. @Lorrec your army is mind-blowingly amazing, eclectic and wacky in all the best ways. Keep up the good work!
It's general election night here in Bongland, I've got a very early start tomorrow, but fuck it I wanted to do some painting, so here are some blowpipers.
Skink Skirmishers of the Jade Host (bases finally complete) the Jungle Patrol (Green Skinks with javelins): the Path Finders (Dark Green Skinks with blowpipes): the Swamp Runners (Yellow Skinks with blowpipes): the Rat Hunters (Red Skinks with javelins): Group shot with their chameleon skink cousins: Links to additional pics: (WIP) (Complete)
I tried at least. My quality was...a bit inconsistent when I painted those. A few of my newer ones even have pupils, I wasn't able to paint those back then. I also noticed that in the meantime I improved their bases a bit. Must look if I have newer pictures...
My Skinks, a mixture of blowpipes and melee weaponry: Skittish and quick, Skinks stand out from the rest of the sluggish Lizardmen. They are the mass workforce designed by the Old Ones to perform many different roles, and without them, Lizardmen society would quickly collapse. Skinks take up weapons during their many patrols as well as to join the fighting during times of war. As troops, they range between reckless audacity and sudden panic. Their skittish nature makes them much more prone to routing than the stoic Saurus. Most commonly, the Skinks advance before the bulk of the main army, harassing the foe's advance with hails of darts. When massed together in a fighting cohort, they can bulk out a Lizardmen battleline. The volleys of javelins and darts that the Skinks can unleash are astoundingly dangerous, for they have learned to coat their weapons with lethal toxins distilled from venomous amphibians, insects and serpents that thrive in the steamy jungle and profuse swamps of Lustria.
My first 5 full completed skinks, If you like them and want to see some close-up pics and have some more info go check out my paint blog: ( http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/sreeves-paint-blog.22608/#post-266194 )
So I had a load of blowpipe-and-club-armed skinks, I wanted to give them shields instead of clubs, but the original sprues were long discarded and finding enough replacements was going to be time-consuming and expensive. Courtesy of https://wargamesfoundry.com I've been able to improvise (and if you ask me it's an improvement on the original shields):
