Cheers @Crowsfoot , I'll do my best and post as I go! This is exciting :) the sculpting job is quite alright on the model, hopefully it'll be good training for the lizards to come...

Hey man I think it looks great! Congrats! if what you are looking is to improve the flesh in the mini, I suggest you start adding some purples, reds and oranges. This will help you make the mini look more interesting and to add some contrast to the mini. Finally you can play with light by making the parts bellow the cheeks and the eyebrows darker and putting some extra highlights.

but to be honest it looks great! I haven't tried flesh a lot by I know its very hard to get it right

Cant wait to start playing around with different colours like that.. do you mean glazes or really adding those to my colour layers, though?

    Hey guys!
Making progress here. I'm almost done with my first ever lizard :D
Skin's almost finished. Probably needs some additional highlights and glazes, esp. on the face, even though photos still tone it down a little… I tried a different technique with more purple in the shades and thinner highlights, trying to get a bit of a layering thin going, but it ended up looking darker. I wont change it all though, I spent so much time on this already :blackeye:, what Scales are done (or maybe a couple glazes too in order to make them more homogenous? Any thoughts?).
Next up are claws and bone, leather, then I'll finish with the metal. I also gave the base its first layer.

    Please share your thoughts! :)

Agreed! Looks great! Nice contrast between skin and scales. You might add some spot highlights to the biggebigger scales but not necessary... I'd leave it as it is. Great work!

Thanks guys :) I might push the highlights a little then ^^
Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow, then on to the base and then the rider :D I was thinking orange skin so as to contrast with the cold one, but with the same scale colour, which I may use for the shield too. Any thoughts?
    Cheers :D

Just make sure to not paint a too deep orange... make it similar to the blue on the cold one...

Looks really good so far, glazes will help pull it together, you could glaze the lower jaw and belly red to give it a pinky ting but I would try it on something else first to see if you like the look.

Yep, I'll make sure it doesnt get too saturated for sure. That would be a disaster…

Thanks a lot ! I'll try it on a barely visible area and see what happens :) first i'll try a couple glazes to make it all look a bit more natural indeed.

    Hey fellas!

"Completed" the Cold one today. The pics still tend to 'erase' some of the highlights (maybe its just the universe trying to tell me they're too thin…) and they're taken in bad lighting conditions, sorry about that.
I did some little glazes on the skin (green and reddish, namely) but not heavy enough to change the general impression. I'll be bolder next time, I just wasn't entirely confident with these tones. So it still looks weird and I'm not very happy about it as the model is all about the skin! But well, life goes on and theres still the rider and the base to paint!!
Other than that I just did the details: claws, teeth, skull, metal. I did it all pretty quickly as i was sort of running out of patience here… so I made mistakes and had to take even more time covering them up, which gave me an opportunity to try some new stuff, mostly with glazes, and it doesn't look too bad IMHO: green, red and yellow on the skull and golden parts, green in claws' shady areas… It's all fun. I'll be doing more of that in the future :)

Also, I tried spraying some matt varnish on the model for the first time (before doing the metal parts). It went ok but some areas took more than others and got kind of glossy, it looks kinda weird (e.g. the face). So careful with this stuff if you're planning to use it!

Please let me know what you think !

    Cheers :D

Thanks again for the advice @Crowsfoot . I tried the red glaze under the chin, neck and belly but i wasn't really happy with the result so I didn't push it… Maybe i'll pull it off next time!!
