Man I can only see to top edge of the pictures, the rest refuses to load and I just get this weird grey static in its place.
STRIKING! That's the word I've been looking for while I drooled over the pictures. Very striking painting style, also WELCOME!
Thanks! I looked through your painting blog and WOW Im impressed! Fantastic work sir...truly fantastic!
I actually used some white modeling epoxy. Similar to Green stuff. Works great for larger objects. Thanks! Glad they loaded finally!
Thanks! So for the red scales I started out with a very dark mix. I didnt use Citadel paints for these...so theres no "used this color then this one" thing here. My base coat was a very dark burgundy with brown in it. I then used a much brighter red for the first layer, in order to really define the recesses. I didnt do any dry brushing for the scales. Everything was done in progressively lighter colors. Took alot of time to do but its worth it!
Ok...time for my next major art dump... This time its MY army instead of commissioned work. I will post more images tomorrow too, I ran out of good light for taking pictures. So to start off, my Bast.
I simply LOVE your colour scheme in monsters..... could you give some details about the colours? I mean de Dark blue /Light(white) blue ones
Thanks! I started out with grey primer (in hindsight white would have been better.) I then had to do about 2 coats of Ceramic White (I used all Citadel paints on this) for the parts I was going to have white. I also then painted all the parts that were going to be the darker blue with The Fang. Shaded all over with Drakenhof Nightshade. Then the color progression was this: Blue: The Fang (to bring the color back instead of the much darker shade) Another coat of Drakenhof Nightshade Another layer of The Fang I SHOULD have done a highlight pass on most of the darker blue and I may do so at some point. But I left it there. White: I basically bordered the recesses with these colors, layering them up to a final white. It works out well that the below listed greys are more blue than grey. Russ Grey Fenrisian Grey 50% Fenrisian Grey 50% Ulthuan Grey Ulthuan Grey 50% Ulthuan Grey 50% White Scar White Scar (final highlights)
It looks nice, i will try it with some Terradons, since the result in them was what called my attention to look closer to the colours. I am amazed... Thanks for the tips!
