AoS Help creating list around scar vet on a Carnosaur

    I am playing in an escalation league (next game is at 1250 points). I finished painting up my Scar Vet on a Carnosaur so I’d like to make a list focused around him. For reference, I have 60 skinks, 8 knights, 3 rippers, 30 Saurus warriors, a bastiladon, 4 razordons, a skink starpriest, 4 a troglodon, and a slann. My win rate with Seraphon is very low (20-30%). Any advice is helpful. If needed, I have 40 Saurus Warriors and 7 more knights I can assemble.

    Shadowstrike with 40 or less skinks + Carnosaur + Slann + Razordons would be ideal, no need for warriors or knights

    Carnosaur, to tell the truth, is not a model designed to be a center of a list. It is good distraction monster or flank support. A force of three, however, in theory can be a strong damage fist. Since you have only 1, build list around shadowstrike with mass skinks and razordons. Carnosaur would be a nice support hero. Give him a cool artefact from Malign Sorcery, so he can grab objective in missions like "arcane places of power".

    If you want to commit to Carnorsaurs then there is pretty fun list that uses a Oldblood Carno, 3 ScV Carnos, and 2 ScV Coldones. You essentially underpoint your list for extra command points and then blow all the command abilities turn two and hope that kills everything on the other side of the table.

    In terms of just upping your win rate my best advice is to focus on the objective side of the game. View AoS not as a game about who can kill the most, but who can hold objectives the most consistently. Learning how to screen units so that you are able to tie up bigger scarier units with your smaller units will help tilt the scales in your favor. Make use of our allegiance ability for strong objective plays.

    Thanks both for the advice. I’ll see what I can do. In terms of games I haven’t killed more than 1 enemy unit in a single game so far. Everything other than Ripperdactyls seem underwhelming from the perspective of a Khorne player. Mainly I play with hijinks with the skinks to get the objectives.

    Most Seraphon units are relatively weak fighters by themselves, both variants of carnosaur suffers from this as well. If you only bring 1 I think the oldblood is better, as the command ability is useful on itself, especially when facing a monster for more claw attacks and far better chance to pin down the monster for bites.

    Charging them in alone will often be suicide though, if they whiff, any other half decent monster will rip them apart most likely in response, and even small arms fire will quickly wound them enough to hardly be a threat. For that reason I mostly either summon them in to jump scare an enemy monster, or have them be part of a dracothions tail, so they can be brought in in a second wave, as a single carnosaur on the table from the beginning just has a big "kick me" sign on it.

    Doppelganger's Cloak is a great artifact on the Scar-Veteran. If you want to be more offensive then Sword of Judgement is also a great choice to further ensure you kill enemy heroes and monsters.
