    Howdy all!
This thread started out as a challenge to myself to completely paint my warhammer collection in one year. Sadly I was not able to complete it, but I am still aiming at the same goal, just with no timeframe in mind. Criticism and feedback is heavily encouraged. Models are counted by points due to monsters and heroes taking more time to paint.

Good challenge, 20 models a month even to tabletop standard is a big ask.

I reckon you can do it ;)

Tell you what I'm going to join you in this. I will paint all my troops in my collection off the top of my head I have,

Awesome! Glad to have you on board and thanks for the vote of confidence!
It definitely is! But I think even getting it all down in a big list is helpful so I can plan / budget time better. I can see what units I can probably cut some corners on (marauders) and how many big dinos I have to treat myself with so I can space them out and not spoil myself etc. etc.

This is a considerable list, hopefully you don't buy much more this year :greedy:

I will have to relook at my old tally of minis and see what I haven't painted yet... so much to do!

First update about a week in, been plugging away on some skinks and being indecisive on a paint scheme for my briar queen squad. I finally settled on something and got one of those bad boys done. Gonna try to bang out the other 6 as I have the next few days off. Execution on this one could be better, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it around the time I'm finishing the last one...

If I get this batch of 11 skinks and the underworld squads done by the end of the month that'll keep me on target, so that is plan "A".

That looks really good, decent standard for tabletop.

Number 2, turned out a little bit better. Like how the rusted weapons and ropes turned out on this one.

Nice looking skeletons! I like the glowing eyeballs on the base skull on the first one. :artist:

All skeletons look better with glowing eyes. That is a stone cold painting fact.

Done one of the underworlds squad! I love how they all came out and am particulary happy with the wet blending on the queen's cloak. I also learned the valuable lesson to NOT have a giant section of wet blending on your minis when trying to paint them quickly. The stormcasts should be much faster as there are just 3 of them and I'm not doing anything fancy. Bog standard vanilla color scheme.

The bright green eyes make a great contrast to the red and black. :)

quick and dirty shot of stormcast warband. there is something kind of refreshing about doing a paint scheme someone else came up with and just copying it. I wouldn't want to do it even the majority of the time, but its a nice change of pace. Just finished shading everything, so i'm missing a few details and almost all the highlighting.
Also, I suck at faces and eyes soooo much. I was going for "mad with arcane energy" and ended up at "I definitely left the stove on." but doing 40 chaos marauders soon will hopefully help with that. Otherwise these guys are fun to paint and turning out ok.

So aside from polishing off the stormcast, I ended up spending January mostly assembling / priming / basing minis so they are ready to be batch painted over the next few months. But while I was doing that, I put two things together.

    a) I would end up with 2 extra saurus guard not in a unit
    b) I really dislike the slann model, and want to do as much to it as possible to improve it.

So I had the bright idea to use the extra saurus to make a litter to carry the slann around rather than have it float, so I assembled the saurus and handles tonight. I've attached a few WIP shots. This won't be the end of my modifications, the saurus need more accessories and some greenstuff work, and I need to figure out how the handles will attach to the platform, but I'm actually really happy with it as a starting point, and it even fits on the proper sized base!

I have seen something like that before and I think it is a pretty cool idea. Looking forward to your version!
