    Question for the experienced players:
Is it worth it putting Tyrion on a chariot?
I have the horse right now, and I am not sure what is better with the chariot.

    Same question for other heroes.

My experience with Horses vs. Chariots in general is that chariots don't get stuck that easily in infantry that tries to fight them, which would be suitable for me because I tend to use the mounted heroes for hit and run attacks on enemy heroes or artillery, or to disrupt enemy lines so my archers can shoot them more easily. Works great so far.

I don't think tyrion can have a chariot can he?

As for horses vs chariots in general. Chariots in total war games tend to be…. weird…They tend to bug out when stuck in melee and require a lot of micromanagement, constantly being told to run through the enemy to achieve anything. Otherwise they['l just sorta stand there stabbing at the enemy with their melee weapon, but since you only have a handfull of chariots versus 80 or so infantry that won't achieve much. They are very disruptive and harder to lock in place due to their mass, but with the monsters in warhammer that shouldm\t really be something you need.

If you do put in the effort of constantly micromanaging them they are very disruptive though. But personally I tend to prefer normal cavalry on account of them not needing constant attention.

....I think you are right, it may have been another hero, not Tyrion....

    Anyway, thanks!

    Follow up question:
Is the Star Dragon (as mount or standalone) worth it compared to the Moon Dragon?

It's a bigger badder version of the moon dragon, so yeah provided you don't wreck your economy Always take the biggest baddest version of what you can field. In the campaign at least. Especially seeing as in warhammer TW you don't really have stacks on garison duty like you had before Rome II (you needed garrison stacks for public order). So there's no real need for a cheap stack sitting in a corner somewhere.

The only situations where the bigger badder version isn't necesarly better is if they change equipment (e.g. bastiladon with solar engine vs with revivication crystal, or terradons with poison javalins vs. firebola's, they simply no longer serve the same purpose so shouldn't be outright replaced)

A garrisoned stack still improves public order a lot, but yeah, there are enough other things that do that, so not really necessary in many cases.

In general I try to not use a lot of units that require micro to use them effectively, I like to limit that to two or three units of 20.
As much as I love cavalry, that's my main problem with them.

Right now in the campaign I buffed the heck out of sea guard and archers, and those can handle most threats quite well.
Problems for them are heavily armored anti-infantry units, such as Chaos Warriors or Grave Guard, but for them the cavalry (rear charge!) and spells (Comet of Cassandora) I like to use mostly work fine. Plus the AI can sometimes really get screwed by heroes or cavalry that just fo fake charges. They stop or turn around. I place my ranged stuff as far away as I can, and harass the approaching enemies. That way they often end up reaching my lines in a conga line instead of a properly organized front, and my archers and artillery can focus down the closest unit or two. Works brilliantly since the fleeing units slow down the ones behind them that still want to attack.
Meanwhile I attack their artillery (if any) with Eagles, Phoenixes, or Dragons.

In some of the earlier games a garrison was basicly mandatory the moment you were further than 4-5 cities away from your capital as you got lower public order simply from that distance (after all, what do we in brittain care what the emporer all the way back in rome might think…). In warhammer you really only need it in a newly conquered town, or if the AI is raiding in your territories, beyond that public order is fairly inconsequential in this game.

The micro needed is indeed often rather tedious. I love the new heroes, and how they have a much greater effect on the battlefield. But all the active abilities to keep track of is a pain. I wish some of those could be put on some basic auto-cast functionality, half em you basicly cast on cd anyway.

You're going to need some armor piercing infantry eventually to take down the chaos warriors and such, but you'l get there in due time.

Today I met Skarsnik, and he had...
    ...19 catapults and nothing else.

My High Elves campaigns is running decently btw. Turn 160 and now fighting a huge war against the Greenskins and some undead in the east, and at the same time the Skaven in the south.

The main issue is how they've changed recruitment in this total war game. In previous games a military building would give you acces to multiple types of units, in this one each unit type basicly has its own building. Leading to all sorts of weirdness when the AI fails to get more than 1 military building up...

News time. The next DLC for Total warhammer 2, believed to contain a lizardmen vs Skaven theme, will come out before Total war three kingdoms, and that game will come out the 23rd of May. So it's safe to say that the next DLC will drop anytime from tomorrow till the 22nd of may.

That would be pretty cool! I'm really curious what they will do with it (beyond Daemons and Ogres).

if I remember correctly 3 was supposed to have proper daemons, ogres & hobgoblins for the start, though that's missing a "good" race.

I have no clue what they plan to do. Please tell me that the End Times is not rumored to be happening in TW.
