    Hello All,

Quick Bio: I started playing AoS in December and bought into 2 of the Christmas Battleforce. I have been playing 40k for years but could not say no to two of my favourite things; Dinosaurs and Mesoamerican History. Over the last year I have filmed a couple battle reports for 40k and kill team for one of the more popular battle report channels. During a 40k game last week he mentioned that he had never had Seraphon on the channel and was interested in me bringing mine out. Only a few of my models are actually painted and before I start a painting grind I was hoping if the expert Seraphon community could help me to build a an 1750 pt army for his channel that accomplishes the following:

    1. Showcases the strengths of Seraphon (My noob knowledge says this is summoning)
    2. Showcases some of the cooler models (My personal favourite is the Carnosaur)
    3. Is not a hyper competitive tuned list (he will not be brings Nagash and friends)

My initial list is the following:

    Allegiance: Seraphon
    Mortal Realm: ???

    Leaders
    Slann Starmaster (260)
    - General
    - Trait: Great Rememberer
    -Artifact??

    Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur
    -Artifact??

    Skink Starpriest (80)

    Battleline
    20 x Skinks (120)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
    10 x Skinks (60)
    - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers

    Units
    6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280)

    Behemoths
    Bastiladon (280)

    Artillery
    2x Razordons (80)

    Battalions
    Shadowstrike Starhost (180)

    Endless Spells
    Chromantic Cogs (60)

    Total: 1720/1750
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 96

I still have the entire second Xmas box of sprues so I can make some changes there. If possible I would like to avoid buying too much more. I really appreciate any of the advice you guys can give me! I would love to contribute positively to the community with a good battle report.

    Thanks again!

That's a pretty solid list! Ulgu has some of the best Artefacts, though Ghyrstrike from Ghyran and Ggypf-Feather Charm from Ghur are widely used as well.

Slann as the General with Great Rememberer is perfect. I'd equip him with either Incandescent Retrices or Miasmatic Blade from Ulgu. On the Oldblood, consider banking your Command Points and when a target of opportunity becomes available, buff him with any Spells available (Summon Starlight and Serpent Staff, possibly Mystic Shield), teleport him within Charge range, and use all or most of your CP to give himself an additional 2, 4, 6, etc attacks on one of his weapons. From Ulgu, Sword of Judgement can make him a great Hero killer. There's also several other good picks.

Shadowstrike is such a great battalion. The initial movement, the 3" deep strike, and the ability used by the Starpriest make it fantastic. This and Thunderquake are easily our two best battalions.

Your T1 should have the Starpriest cast the Cogs within range of the Slann, so that the Slann can be controlling it. The additional spell will mean the Slann will generate 13 Conjuration Points per turn (assuming no casts).

The Venerable Bastilidon is such a tank. It's 3+ Save and 4+ Mortal Wound shrug make it very resilient. The standard equip is the Solar Engine, but there's Battle Reports on this site showcasing the effectiveness of the Ark of Sotek, as well.

You've made good list that will definitely showcase the Seraphon army's current strengths, which are summoning, teleport, and objective control.

Thanks for your comments! I won't make any changes then and will work to paint up that core list. As far as what I should be aiming to summon - what should I be painting up for that?

Summoning is definitely situational, but with your available units I'd go with Skinks, Ripperdactyls, and perhaps a 2nd Bastilidon.

    I also think that's a good list.
It shows what we can do best right now: hit hard and fast, in the first turn.
    Then summon and survive.

As many will attest to, including @LizardWizard, Ulgu probably has the most number of viable Artefacts. Miasmatic Blade, Sword of Judgement, Spellmirror, Betrayer's Crown, and Doppleganger Cloak are all great Artefacts. Even Blade of Folded Shadows and Dimensional Blade are decent. You'll often see Gryph-feather Charm from Ghur, Ghyrstrike from Gyhran, Ignax's Scales from Aqshy, and Aetherquartz Brooch from Hysh being used as well.

If you were to pick Ulgu, Sword of Judgement or Betrayer's Crown on your Oldblood would be good choices. Miasmatic Blade on the Slann is a good choice, but if you're facing a spell heavy army, it's not as effective. In that case, Spellmirror could add to the Slann's resilience.

The slight disadvantage to your list is that it's 6 drops, which likely means you won't be getting to pick who takes the first turn. If that ends up being the case, you might be better served deploying towards the rear of your zone to stay out of range of spells/shooting and potentially first turn charges, depending on the army your facing. With the deep deployment, you may get lucky with your opponent deciding to move forward and opening up his army to the Ripper's deep strike and the potential of LoSaT on the Razordons and/or Oldblood. As I mentioned above, use those command points to make your Oldblood even deadlier. Summon in Skinks to control objectives and screen your units and/or tie-up enemy units.
