So I finally got Warhammer 2 working on my newly upgraded PC. I'm going to use this space to showcase some screenshots that I take. Please keep in mind I don't have high graphical settings setup currently. I'll also use this space to catalog weird things I notice. For example when the PC gets up to speed I am noticing a tick sound from the case. I'm assuming it's a bad fan or a fan problem in general. To begin: I have started playing as the blessed city of hexoatl. Yes I know I probably should be playing tomb Kings but I haven't purchased the DLC yet. I want to get a good couple of hours in playing the stock races of Warhamme 2.
Tick sound could be hard drive - as in the old school hard drive with moving parts, not the newer SSDs. Otherwise look at your fans and see if there's any cables near them - it's possible the cable is getting hit by the spinning fan over and over, creating that ticking noise.
Both myself and my two hardware experts are thinking it's the back fan. We're going to attempt to replace it. We're also going to try and add another fan into the case. I have two spinner drives in the PC as well as my SSD. However the spinner drives while connected are not showing up so that's another issue we are trying to deal with. To be perfectly Fair it's probably a Master/slave pinning issue
Well if you want to be sure it's the fan before replacing it try disconnecting that fan from the motherboard first. If it is the fan before replacing it get some WD40 into the ball bearing - I've fixed noisy fans in the past with that method.
it's not exactly the noise it's more the fact that the fan is working hard and creating a noise but it's the heat that's the problem. The hardware is beating faster than the fan keep up.
Hmmm unless your case fan has pulse width modulation (4 pin header not 3) then usually they spin at a set RPM regardless of case heat. It is only CPU fans that throttle up and down their RPM. But if that's the issue (heat) you don't need to replace the fan at all, just buy a second fan to increase airflow.
Tr True, to be fair though the fan is original to my original build, and is approximately 5 years old
Fan has been replaced. Game works, heat is a tad high but stable. Tonight, the tax return states Settra lives. @NIGHTBRINGER
In a word? "Epic." The entire game is awesome, but they nailed tomb king sooooo well. The units, the audio, the music, it's all spot on. I wish there was a tad more visual variety in the Lord's and heroes, but I can live with what there is, and mods are a thing. My favorite damn part is honestly the most minuscule thing. When you click on a unit that is not a lord or hero, you get an audio line that sounds like one phrase of an incantation. It's intonation is deep and dry, which is amazing. This is highlighted when you go back an play vampire counts, and the intonation is whispery and sounds like they fudged what they were trying to pronounce in old nehekharan.
I've only been messing with the king of kingly kingz himself as of yet. FYI, most of my screenshots for the time being are going to be medium graphics settings with a shitload of excess miniscule stuff turned off. My hardware can handle it. My fans can't manage the heat. I plan to remedy this when i have a new job with some income (its essentialy a $70-$140 fix, depending on how fancy i want to get.)
Just take off the side panel off your PC - that will solve all your temp problems for the time being.
