well yeah, but isn't the guard still supposed to be leagues ahead of local PDF-forces both in terms of equipment and training? And these are supposed to be even less well trained and organised than the local PDF would be. So what is with especially their armour looking so much sturdier?

I think the Enforcers are owned by the filthy rich nobles who rule the hive, so they have huge quantities of dosh that they spend on keeping the Enforcers up to shape. By comparison the Imperium wants to spend as little money on the Imperial Guard as possible (the Space Marines are their premier favourite force, so they get all the money put into their equipment and stuff). The Guardsmen get what’s left of the Imperium’s dedicated military fund after they’ve spent as much as they can on the Space Marines, so they would probably get very little training.

Still, unless the enforcers are supposed to be the bodyguards of the nobles it seems weird to equip them better than guard, it's not like a hive-gang would ever come close to the threat a xenos force would pose. Imperial guard flak armour & lasguns are supposed to be better than whatever armour the PDF has & more effective than the autoguns the hivers are usually limited to so it feels weird that they look so much fancier.

But then GW have always historically given lasguns and autoguns the same profile (although I don’t know if that’s the case in the abominable 8th Edition).

Just pointing out this isn't a new thing the old enforcer models got their bolters and carapace Armour going on too. Guardsmen have always been little more then chum designed to take the imperiums great size and population to bear on its adversaries.

I mean it also probably has something to do with the enforcers being based heavily off judge dredd which gw used to make minis for. GW has never been one to miss an opportunity to repurpose older miniature lines :p

That’s the best news I’ve seen in both days of the Expo! Shame they didn’t bring him out with the Fyreslayers Battletome with rules for him, but a great model nonetheless.

Looks like the next preview isn't until the Age of Sigmar Open Day, which won't be until July, which sucks a bit, but at least it'll be all about Age of Sigmar though, so surely they'll have finally got the Sylvaneth mess out of the pipes and will be in a good position to announce the next tome by then? Also it looks as if Warcry will be coming around then, as Warcry will be playable in an event for the first time.

Yep, have been brainstorming for uses for these guys, when I saw them it did make me think of the Rourvuk instantly.

That statement works just as well if you replace “Imperium” with “GW”, and “imperial guardsmen” with any other warhammer army. XD

The General’s Handbook is on the way next Saturday, meaning they’re still having trouble getting the Sylvaneth blockage out of the product release pipes. Typical.

An interesting side note is that according to the Warhammer Community Sunday preview, there will be expanded rules for Ironjawz, Seraphon, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Free Peoples, Slaves to Darkness and Dispossessed, meaning it’s unlikely Seraphon will be getting a Battletome this year, along with Dispossessed :( and surprisingly Slaves to Darkness, despite them being featured as one of the four Malign Portents armies.

Note that Ogres weren’t part of this list, so they must be getting a tome this year, along with any other armies that featured in the 2018 handbook allegiance rules, aren’t in this list and haven’t already got a tome (Skaven and Slaanesh have).

Appearing in the General’s Handbook didn’t stop Fyreslayers, Beasts of Chaos, Slaanesh, Skaven and Flesh Eater Courts from getting updates last time around, so while it probably won’t be soon after the Handbook’s release, it definitely does not rule out getting an update for any of them. Ogors were never a part of the Handbook however so I don’t think you can take much from that, and none of the factions in last years Handbook that didn’t get a Tome have been omitted this time around, so I don’t think you can deduce much there either unfortunately.

Still, it talks about further previews over the next week so hopefully they’ll be something in there for us and even if not it’s always nice to get an update whatever the form (as long as they don’t nerf us). Another plus side this time around is that although we will probably still need it for alliegance abilities, Points values will be available for free in an official, deliberate capacity, so if that’s all you would otherwise need than you don’t have to fork out for it.

Looks like it’s going to be good news for us in the General’s Handbook - according to this article we should be seeing decent point reductions! In their own words:

    Seraphon
Seraphon briefly dominated the game at the start of the new edition last year, as players discovered just how powerful their new summoning mechanics were! While they’re less prevalent than they were, Seraphon remain a solid army, and the General’s Handbook 2019 consolidates that with some welcome points changes.

Saurus Guard and Saurus Warriors have both been reduced, letting you save points on the core of your collection, while Skinks have seen a small increase. Fans of massive monsters will be pleased to know that both the Stegadon and Troglodon have also seen reductions, with the latter costing a mere 140 points!

I really do hope our summoning mechanics don’t get nerfed. They are arguably some of our best assets and if we lose that seraphon may no longer be viable in the slightest. We shall wait and see what GW gives us, hopefully something good that should be interesting.

Virtually nothing coming out this Saturday, but it looks like next Saturday is getting a whole host of stuff for 40K. While hardly any people here care about 8th Edition 40K for the most part (quite rightly), GW are bringing out some circular base movement tray packs as part of this release, which look pretty good value and could easily be used in AoS as they cater for the main 3 infantry base sizes:
