I rarely get the chance to play but I have a personal rule of buying plastic models only. Anyone have a remotely competitive list that meets that restriction? Hopefully that question gets easier whenever the next release finally shows up, but until then, ideas?
It will be quite tough without a Slann in standard sized games. At 1000pts I think you could do a pretty effective shadowstrike list with only plastic models.
1k is very doable with only plastic kits. Here is a re-work of my standard Shadowstrike without the Razordons or standard Skink Priest. Allegiance: Seraphon -Mortal Realm: Ulgu Leaders: Skink Starpriest (80) - General - Trait: Master of Star Rituals - Artefact: Miasmatic Blade - Spell: Meteoric Convocation Skink Starpriest (80) - Artefact: Betrayer's Crown - Spell: Stellar Tempest Battleline: 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers Units: 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) 6 x Terradon Riders (240) - Sunleech Bolas Battalions: Shadowstrike Starhost (180) Total: 1000 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 64 The Betrayer's Corwn Starpriest and Ripperdactyls are the options I would include in the Shadowstrike Starhost. This is less competitive than other iterations 1k Shadowstrike Starhost, but it is still a very capable army. The lack of rend and inability to replenish Skinks means some armies might be next to impossible to defeat if both players are near the same skill/experience level. Bringing an EotGs in place of the 6 Terradons is a variation that allows for some summoning and potential mortal wound generation. This comes at the price of inconsistency. Additionally one of the Carnosaurs is also worth consideration if you want a fighty behemoth. I recommend taking the Oldblood with Doppelganger's Cloak if you go this route.
In short, no. competitions are generally held at 2k points and we are absolutely worthless at those points in a competitive environment without a SLANN.
Somebody on this board built a Slann proxy out of nuthin’ but plastic pieces. I think I saw it a couple of weeks ago.
Do you have a spare blot toad? http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/slann-mage-priest-slann-starmaster.12673/page-8#post-300191 This is not 100% plastic ^ but if you can start with a blot toad, raid your bits box, maybe build a platform out of cocktail skewers or maybe spare bastilodon equipment. Or do a Slann palanquin platform from foam core or plasticard. Or use two 32mm round bases back-to-back...
whichever forward side armour you didn't use for the Basti, combine with the unused crest of the Carno and Stega and you can have it make an makeshift palanquin that's 100% plastic
That’s the kind of thinking I was on about. And 32mm rounds are always good as connecting-core structure elements. Might we ask why.. nothing-but-plastic ..is the goal? Would that rule out bamboo from cocktail skewers as well? Sorta wondering if this is really “no-metal;no-resin”. If it is a weight thing. Just curious.
No metal, no resin is more accurate. I'm pretty comfortable with conversions, so maybe I'll take a stab
Alright it's been a while but I have an (unpainted ) all plastic palanquin. Of course with new Kroak this might be moot, but I figure I at least have a Starseer on my hands
Wow, I like this one a lot. Haven't seen this combination of bits before, great work!! Whats the bottom of the palanquin made of? Grrr, Imrahil
