My local shop is starting a 1250pts tourny/stream series. I've only played 4 games so far (none have been wins but some have been close so let's ignore that) My list for it will be 1x Slann (general, great rememberer) 1× Old-Blood on Carno (mismatic blade) 1× Skink Starpriest 1×Troglodon 3x5 Saurus Knights 1× Scar Vet on Cold One Firelance Starhost Balewind Vortex I think this will serve me well, but what are your thoughts/possible advice for a Krox fresh from the spawning pools.
change mismatic blade for gryph feather charm gives you +1 to movement and -1 to be hit. you also get another artifact as you have a battalion. what models do you have acses to?
Oh alright that's just better, what realm is that in? I have a Sunblood, 20 warriors, 20 skinks at the moment. Also what other artifact do you recommend?
it's in ghur. as for other artifacts we have the Coronal Shield and the Incandescent Rectrices. if you dont like those you can pair the mismatic blade with the doppelgangers cloak
What does the cloak do? And just put 2 artifacts on the Carno? Or give it to the Starpriest or Slann?
no you can only have 1 artifact per hero. so the miesmatic blade would go on your slann to keep him safe. the cloak is a once a game ability that makes it so that no one can attack the hero in the combat phase until he has attacked this can waist peoples attacks because if the oponent cant activate any other units then they have to swing with the one engaged with the carnasuar and the cant do that so the attack is wasted.
Ah alright, sounds really solid if used correctly. Plus I could make my Slann -2 to hit with starlight correct?
yup and +1 save from the bale wind and +1 save if you put said bale wind in cover. if you had cogs then you could also reroll those saves
Slann sitting pretty in a cylcone in a building lol If I had 80 more points available I'd grab cogs, but I'm exactly at 1250. If it ends up being a escalation league I might have the option later though.
I know it's kinda lack luster with no rend and being more distraction then really good. Just kinda want to use it for now. Might drop it when I get razordons and salamanders.
Wonder how the Trog will look after the new battletome, all i want so far is rend. Sallies I haven't used but I hear they need more consistency
ypu they do 0 damage 25% of the time. and i want the trog to be better to i have one and i want to see him on the table
something to consider, coronal shield, or miasmatic sword/griffon feather on a Sunblood and a starpreist to support them makes for an amazing tarpit. -2 to be hit, 4+ save that's immune to all but -3 rend (which is a cant save situation any way, so basically immune to rend because -3 rend is the same as getting a mortal wound without other save modifiers). if you are lacking on an anvil... you can make a decent one this way. especially since it can tie up a 40 man unit but only 5/6 are gonna be able to hit it without a range 2" weapon
I respect your math-hammer and your theory-crafting capabilities, but.... I WILL NOT HEAR THIS HERESY! It could be that I just love the Trog and he seems to work for me, but he's a decent distraction unit, and can hold his own in lower point games I find. I tend to run him in a Thunderquake if at all, but outside of one he's also done alright. He also goes along with the theme of the force, and is cheap enough to slot in fine. I'd say give him a few games, but switch him for Sallies or Razors if he doesnt pan out well for you.
Sounds good to me! I'm just debating how to paint it, as a cave/subterranean predator (due to the lack of eyes and pale skin) or as a swamp predator.
i've said it before play what you like. but what is he distracting from? we only have one impotent target in our army the slann every thing else is sad and made to die. and every one who has played against seraphon know this.
