You shouldn't kick sand at Kings of War, being such as 8th edition fan. It was and is capitalism at it's best. Kings of War created a spiritual heir to 8th edition when Games Workshop refused to.
Just a bit of friendly rivalry between the games. I think it stems from the fact that WFB had to share its sub-forums with T9A, while Kings of War got its very own unshared sub-forms. Especially as WFB is easily more popular in terms of posting on this forum than both of those games combined. Although I'll never play it myself (why play the facsimile when you can play the original and the best?), I have no issue with the game. In fact, its existence is a good thing, because it has allowed Mantic to create some Goblin models that I really like and plan to use has Chaos Dwarf Hobgoblins!! Also, I can't compete with the other sub-forums: Community, AoS and Miscellaneous because they are too well established!
The Ninth Age seems to have declined in popularity. Years ago, I thought the 9th Age should have it's own subforums here on L-O. I noticed the downward trend after they declined my audition to join their fluff team. I'm sure it's a coincidence though...
I've heard/read a lot of anecdotal hearsay and complaints about it. The primary complaint seems to be that the creators (rules team) place balance above everything else, including fun-factor. I have no clue as to how valid that claim is (as I now have zero interest in playing the game), but that is what I have heard. As for refusing you for their fluff team, they are fools. Maybe Kathleen Kennedy is running the show behind the scenes. Now if they had created an all Panda army under the direct supervision of @Scolenex , T9A would have been unstoppable and would likely have overtaken even the mighty 40k in terms of popularity.
Since pandas are invincible this would ruin their attempt to create play balance. That's why pandas don't normally fight, it's too unsatisfying, we are like Saitama that way.
Thanks, I didn't really notice. I don't pay much attention to my overall like count. I watch the likes of the threads I spent the most time and effort on (which sadly often don't get as many likes as silly memes), but even then, most of the time I make a meme rather than find a meme.
Our mighty newly minted sub-forum, Other Armies Discussion, has just surpassed another KoW milestone! @Lizards of Renown , @Killer Angel , @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl , @Imrahil and myself have had some great discussions as of late. Come join in on the fun!
Indeed! It is the little things in life that bring us the most joy, even if they are mostly grey and unpainted.
Soooo humble. Only a true paragon of humility would create a thread to aggrandize all his forum milestones and nurture it to just shy of 100 pages. He's almost as humble as I, Scolenex, who has the greatest humble the world has ever seen! Time to humbly switch avatars so I can inspire the little people of L-O.
Hmmmmm.... I actually think there are a number of people vying for Most Humble Award. @NIGHTBRINGER this needs a poll, methinks ( )
