Roughly same price as sticking the BSB on a ScarVet with the added bonus of being able to be anywhere you are going to be in combat nad might need the rerolls.
At first this seemed lke a terrible idea since hes flying and will get picked off but I just read they land in between moves so if hes behind even some skirmishers hes be alive.

    Thoughts?
    Still a waste of a 100 points?

why dont you stick it on a slann skink chief on T is very fragile and would be shot to pieces
or a cannon shot would kill it

the one thing that has the BSB on chief/scar-vet better than the BSB on the slann is that if for any reason your slann flees . . . well he automatically dies and that is a huge points investment that just dematerialized. Still the slann is not very likely to be running if he is parked in a TG unit.

Why does he automatiically die? do you mean hes just likely to get run down?
Also if he has the BSB and fails a leadership check does he get a reroll?

its part of 8th ed. Any time a unit/model flees the standard bearer (and yes this includes the BSB) is removed as a casualty, to simulate having to either drop the banner or the bearer being killed because of the weight of the banner. Or some such, I remember reading it in the book but don;t have the tome on me so can't give a reference page right this minute.

Jesus that could be game ending.
But the TG/slann would get the BSB reroll right?

Cause stubborn 8 cold blooded. The chance of failing that twice is very very small

yeah you do so the likelyhood of running is small but . . . . re-rollable cold blooded stubborn 8 is great but it'll happen to you at least once in your lifetime.

If the Slann is in the TG unit then I would definitely give him the BSB no question but if he is a solo slann I would not risk it ever.

Give the slann the banner of discipline and you are looking at a rerollable LD 10 unit.

Sounds about as safe as can be to me. Thanks for rehashing the BSB debate with me.
And in summary pretty solid no on skink chief bsb :)

There is another reason to keep the BSB away from the slann and that is to make a bigger space where you can reliably pass LD-tests. If the BSB is on the slann all units need to be within 12" or they are on their own. With a Scar-vet as BSB you could place him 12" to the side of the slann and therefor increase the amount of units that get a bonus LD.

This could probably be very usefull in larger games where you wont be able to fit your entire army close to the Slann.
