Because nothing is more peaceful than huge mech sticking double cannon and possibly grenade launcher in your face. Nice paintjob.
~~~~ Greetings fellow lizards, I have been diligently working on some space marines this month... but not my Sons of Medusa project! Instead I got distracted again and decided to paint up some marines for the War of the False Primarch encapsulated in the blog known as + Some Things are Best Left Forgotten +. I took many, many more pictures yesterday, but for now here are the WIP Flesh Eaters and Iron Guard I have been working on, and one of the Jade Talons. Spoiler: Flesh Eaters inspiration There is some great work on the Flesh Eaters out here, so here was my inspiration: - by midnightmare - by duckcalledsue - by chrisbuxey, who is great with LEDs! If you also like seeing various shades of Space Marines incorporating tons of lore, I do highly recommend that link to the War of the False Primarch project above. Its some great stuff, reminds me of reading about the Horus Heresy for the first time as a kid Spoiler: Iron Guard inspiration - minis by death_of_a_rubricist, who I think runs the project. The Iron Guard is a lesser-represented chapter so I wanted to make some for myself, making a slight tweak by adding more blue to the paint scheme. Spoiler: Jade Talons inspiration - by Adam Staincliffe? James? who has some amazing work on Instagram as the main contributor of this chapter.
“They vilify us for our methods, yet nobody questions the results. We are the chosen Scions of Sanguinius, tempered weapons of the Emperor Himself. Our enemies quail with fear even before we draw first blood. They will soon know it is a fear well-founded! Let them fear the Angels of Death. Let them fear what is left of their short future. Let them pray for death. Brothers, we will answer those prayers.” [//Scaraban, Voivode of the Flesh Eaters Second Company+] Super enjoying this project... lots of Flesh Eaters pictures to share today I really enjoyed the weathering process for these guys. Mettalic paint or a bunch of battle damage on the models, plus brown wash. Also had the same desert-powder used for the BLKOUT minis, and added some Blood for the Blood God paint for the first time. Between the painting and the helmet swaps these guys turned out fantastic. I could see myself painting more of these guys in the future. I also like the weapon choices made by the previous owner, not sure where some of these 3D printed giant chainswords came from but they were perfect for this project. I enjoyed painting the Jaws of Doom on these guys too! Spoiler: more Flesh Eaters heraldry Chapter heraldry, the fanged maw in the shape of a pentagram due to the chapter's inclusion in the ranks of the Penarchy of Blood: Because during the WotFP the Flesh Eaters along with the rest of the Pentarchy chapters were secretly allowed to expand beyond codex limiations, I enjoyed painting these guys up as members of the 11th Company: Also came up with a new marking for the 26th squad (right kneepad) to further underscore how large the chapter had swollen its ranks to combat the partisan forces: The Flesh Eaters sprint across the desert to attack the ranks of the Partisans: Whole squad, I hope you liked them! ...and a preview of another mini to come, mostly because the mood shot turned out great
Those Flesh Eaters look so cool! Great job. I think a splash of blood for the blood god on the bases would look pretty cool. Maybe flicked off an old toothbrush.
Here are the completed Iron Guard! Spoiler: pictures with other lighting sources When I photographed these three I did an experiment with light sources. The pictures above is with my desk lamp, but the next two are with 2) flashlight from above to make a nice "night fight" picture and 3) ambient light from the room, which is a bit grainy but shows off detail in a different way that looks cool. I like all three pics, and need to experiment more with these! (link to their Index article)
...ran out of time to finish posting a few more Iron Guard pics! I had fun painting these dudes. Very Iron Warriors but with cooler heraldry. Morning attack on the desert base: Under the desert sun: Ambushed by the Flesh Eaters: And a teaser for the imperial guard that I had lying around for years and years... and finally painted!!
Thanks! Does anyone remember the 33rd Genswick Rifles from an old White Dwarf magazine? I made my own version! Technically I made these models back in like 2012 timeframe, but never got around to painting any of them... until now! I present the 212th Genswick Rifles Regiment! Love how they turned out, lots of character. Spoiler: thar be more slightly blurry pictures here, but I love them... be ye warned! These were the first four I built way back when: Whole group!
